MONTHLY FOOD DISTRIBUTION - EACH MONTH WE DID A FOOD DISTRIBUTION EVENT ON A WEEKEND. WE RECEIVED ~ 8-10 TONS OF FOOD PER MONTH AS A DONATION FROM SECOND HARVEST OF SILICON VALLEY, PLUS WE PURCHASED VARIOUS FOOD ITEMS OURSELVES EACH MONTH. OUR VOLUNTEERS PREPARED FOOD PACKAGES (76LBS) FOR EACH CLIENT PER MONTH. THE FOOD CONSISTS OF FRESH PRODUCE, DRY GOODS, MEAT, FLOUR, RICE, OIL, EGGS, ETC. WE WERE ABLE TO INCREASE THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF FOOD FOR 2021 FROM 203 TONS IN 2020 TO 253 TONS IN 2021. THE AVERAGE NO. OF FAMILIES SERVED ALSO WENT UP IN 2021 FROM 446 IN 2020 TO 509 IN 2021.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - WE PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE MONTHLY TO SELECTED CLIENTS WITH THE MOST NEED TO PAY THEIR RENT, UTILITIES, OR TRANSPORTATION, ETC. THIS ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED IN-KIND, I.E. CHECKS ARE WRITTEN DIRECTLY TO THEIR LANDLORDS FOR RENT, AND UTILITY COMPANIES FOR THEIR ELECTRIC/GAS. THIS ASSURES THE ASSISTANCE GOES TO ITS INTENDED PURPOSE, AND THE FAMILIES AVOID BECOMING HOMELESS. TOTAL OF 980K WAS DISTRIBUTED TO THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES; MONTHLY ASSISTANCE: 136 FAMILIES RECEIVED REGULAR RENT OR UTILITY ASSISTANCE; SPECIAL REQUEST: AVERAGE OF 25 FAMILIES PER MONTH REQUESTED FOR HELP; EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE: 12 CASES, TOTAL 4,440.
