CONSCIOUS KITCHEN: CONSCIOUS KITCHEN ADDRESSES FOOD EQUITY, EDUCATION, AND ACCESS BY SHIFTING THE PARADIGM AROUND SCHOOL FOOD SERVICE, WHILE CULTIVATING A LOCAL, ECOLOGICAL FOOD SYSTEM, AND BUILDING NUTRITION LITERACY INTO MEALS. CK CREATED THE FIRST ORGANIC SCHOOL DISTRICT IN THE COUNTRY SHORTLY AFTER LAUNCHING IN 2013, WHICH THRIVES TO THIS DAY. IN THE FACE OF THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS, OUR CONSCIOUS KITCHENS OPERATED AS HUBS FOR COMMUNITY RESILIENCY WITH THE TEAMS, EQUIPMENT, SUPPLY CHAINS AND STRUCTURE TO PROVIDE HEALTHY MEALS FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FACING UNPRECEDENTED CHALLENGES, WHILE DIRECTLY SUPPORTING STAFF, ORGANIC FARMERS, FOOD PURVEYORS, SMALL BUSINESSES AND MORE.


PROJECT GREEN CHALLENGE: AN ANNUAL MONTH-LONG COMPETITION THAT ENGAGES THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS ACROSS THE GLOBE THROUGH SIMPLE, RELEVANT, HIGH-IMPACT SUSTAINABILITY-THEMED CHALLENGES, COVERING TOPICS FROM PERSONAL HEALTH TO FOOD, PRODUCT LABELING, FAIR TRADE, WASTE, ENERGY AND MORE. THE CHALLENGE CULMINATES WITH THE 4-DAY PGC FINALS SUMMIT IN THE SF BAY AREA FOR ~14 OUTSTANDING STUDENTS WHO GO ON TO LEAD CLIMATE ACTION PROJECTS. IMPACT: 50,000+ STUDENTS HAVE PARTICIPATED ON 4,700+ CAMPUSES IN 50 STATES AND 85 COUNTRIES, 200M+ DIGITALLY.


PROVIDE DISASTER RELIEF(INCLUDING HEALTHY MEALS AND OTHER RELIEF). $506,800 WAS DISTRIBUTED IN COVID RELIEF GRANTS TO ESTABLISH A DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAM TO PROVIDE RAPID RESPONSE TO HELP VICTIMS FROM THE CHARITABLE CLASS WHO ESTABLISH FINANCIAL NEED, AND MAY BE USED TO COVER THE COSTS OF HEALTH CARE, HEALTH INSURANCE, HOUSING (INCLUDING RENTS OR MORTGAGE PAYMENTS), UTILITIES, CHILD CARE, BASIC NECESSITIES OF LIFE OR OTHER NEEDS THAT THEY CAN NO LONGER PAY BECAUSE OF THE DISASTER.
