THE CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER OF THE SOUTH PLAINS IS A COOPERATIVE EFFORT AMONG MULTIPLE CITY, COUNTY AND STATE ENTITIES INTERESTED IN MAINTAINING A COOPERATIVE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO INVESTIGATIONS OF CHILD ABUSE. THE GOAL IS TO LESSEN THE TRAUMA TO THE CHILD BY REDUCING THE NUMBER OF INVESTIGATIVE INTERVIEWS. THE ADVOCACY CENTER PROVIDES INTERVIEWS OF ABUSED CHILDREN IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT EMPHASIZES THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD. IN ADDITION, THE ADVOCACY CENTER ALSO PROVIDES REHABILITATIVE, CASE MANAGEMENT AND PREVENTATIVE SERVICES. THE ADVOCACY CENTER ALSO PROVIDES COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND TRAINING AND SERVICES ARE OFFERED TO A 15 COUNTY REGION WITH MOBILE SERVICES OFFERED TO 14 OF THE RURAL COUNTIES THAT SURROUND LUBBOCK COUNTY.
