TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A LIFETIME OF EXPERIENCES, TYLER AREA SENIOR CITIZEN'S ASSOCIATION (TASCA) MEMBERS ARE COMMITTED TO SHARING THEIR WISDOM ,TALENTS, TIME, AND RESOURCES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF AN EXPANDING AND DIVERSE COMMUNITY WITH AN EMPHASIS ON SENIOR CONCERNS.

HEALTH - THE TASCA HEALTH PROGRAM INCLUDES OVER 400 HOURS PER YEAR OF CLASSES IN YOGA, ROUND DANCING, LINE DANCING, BALLROOM DANCING, COUNTRY DANCING, AND VARIOUS FORMS OF EXERCISE.
RECREATION - DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A VARIETY OF RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE GOAL OF HAVING "SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE", THE TASCA PROGRAM, WHICH INCLUDES VARIOUS ACTIVITIES SUCH AS BRIDGE, 42, HAND AND FOOT, MAHJONGG, JOKER, MEXICAN TRAIN, PINOCHLE, AND SPINNER, PROVIDES MORE THAN 15,000 HOURS ANNUALLY TO EAST TEXAS SENIORS. LESSONS ARE GIVEN THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO INTRODUCE BEGINNERS TO THESE CARD, DOMINO, AND BOARD GAMES. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, ATTENDEES IN EXCESS OF 1,000 SHARE FOOD AT THE MONTHLY POTLUCK DINNERS, AND ENJOY ENTERTAINMENT PROVIDED BY PARTNERS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. SINGLES MEET MONTHLY AT VARIOUS RESTAURANTS AROUND THE AREA TO ENJOY AN EVENING OF FOOD, FELLOWSHIP, AND MAKING NEW FRIENDS. PAINTING, CRAFT, AND SPANISH CLASSES ARE PROVIDED WEEKLY. A BLUEGRASS JAM AND SHOW IS HELD MONTHLY. DANCES ARE HELD FOUR TIMES A MONTH WITH LIVE MUSIC AND ENJOY AN ANNUAL ATTENDENCE OF 4,000.
COMMUNITY SERVICE - TASCA MEMBERS WORK THROUGHOUT THE YEAR ON A NUMBER OF PROJECTS TO HELP OTHERS, INCLUDING COLLECTING FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY AND TOYS FOR CHILDREN AT CHRISTMAS. OTHERS MAKE HATS TO DONATE TO NEWBORNS, CANCER PATIENTS, AND OTHERS WITH TERMINAL ILLNESSES. ADDITIONALLY VOLUNTEERS GAVE OVER 8,000 HOURS OF SUPPORT TO THE TASCA CENTER TO ENSURE THE PROGRAMS AND MISSION WERE CARRIED OUT.
