NUTRITION & SERVICES FOR SENIORS SERVES SENIORS AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN HARDIN & JEFFERSON COUNTIES. WE ARE DEDICATED TO PROVIDING INNOVATIVE, EFFECTIVE PROGRAMS THAT ASSIST THEM IN LEADING QUALITY LIVES WHILE MAINTAINING DIGNITY AND INDEPENDENCE AS OPPOSED TO THE MORE COSTLY INSTITUTIONAL CARE.

OUR ONSITE KITCHEN PREPARED ALMOST 375,000 MEALS FOR WEEKDAY HOME DELIVERY (MEALS ON WHEELS) AND FOR CONGREGATE DINING FOR SENIORS AND OTHER QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS IN JEFFERSON AND HARDIN COUNTIES. ALL MEALS MEET THE CRITERIA FOR SENIOR NUTRITION USING STATE GUIDELINES AND INCLUDE INFORMATION FOR DIABETICS TO MAKE INFORMED CHOICES ON THEIR MEAL. ON FRIDAYS, ALL OF OUR HOME BOUND CLIENTS ALSO RECEIVE A SHELF TABLE BREAKFAST MEAL FOR THE WEEKEND PROVIDING AN ADDITIONAL 68,500 MEALS. THIS YEAR APPROXIMATLEY 240-285 VOLUNTEERS AND 17 STAFF MEMBERS DELIVERED ALMOST 400,000 MEALS TO THE HOMES OF 2621 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS. OUR VISIT IS SOMETIMES THE ONLY HUMAN CONTACT FOR OUR HOME BOUND CLIENTS AND PROVIDES COMFORT AND COMPANY TO THEM AND PEACE OF MIND TO THEIR FAMILY AND CAREGIVERS. AN ADDITIONAL 500 SENIORS ENJOYED THEIR MEAL AND FELLOWSHIP AT ONE OF OUR 12 CONGREGATE DINING FACILITIES. AN INNOVATIVE GROCERY BAG PROGRAM PROVIDED AN ADDITIONAL 6,100 MEALS TO ALMOST 150 INDIVIDUALS TO SUPPLEMENT THEIR NOON MEAL DELIVERY.
OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE, CARENET MEDICAL ALERT SYSTEM, ENSURE NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT DISCOUNT PROGRAM, AND AN ANIMEALS PROGRAM.
OUR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM PROVIDE CURB-TO-CURB DEMAND RESPONSE SERVICES TO SENIORS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO PROMOTE INDEPENDENT LIVING BY PROVIDING COORDINATED TRANSPORTATION FOR LIFE SUSTAINING SERVICES AS WELL AS FOR EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT, SHOPPING, PUBLIC SERVICES AND RECREATION IN BOTH RURAL AND URBAN AREAS. THIS EVER EXPANDING PROGRAM INCLUDES SERVICE IN BOTH JEFFERSON AND HARDIN COUNTIES AS WELL AS SERVICE TO MEDICAID PATIENTS IN OUR AREA. APPROXIMATELY 2,300 INDIVIDUALS UTILIZE THESE PROGRAMS WITH ALMOST 39,550 RIDES PROVIDED.
