JCOA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ADVOCACY AND PLANNING A COMPREHENSIVE AND COORDINATED VARIETY OF SERVICES THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO APPROXIMATELY 107,000 PERSONS AGE 60+ IN JEFFERSON PARISH. JCOA IS MANAGED BY A PROFESSIONAL STAFF THAT IS SUPERVISED BY A FIFTEEN MEMBER VOLUNTEER BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

JEFFERSON COUNCIL ON AGING HAS 10 SENIOR CENTERS. THEIR MAJOR OBJECTIVE IS THE ENHANCEMENT OF LIFE FUNCTIONING THROUGH THE PROVISION OF SOCIAL AND HEALTH SERVICES, OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND DEVELOPMENT OF LEADERSHIP AND COPING SKILLS, AND ACCESS TO OTHER NEEDED COMMUNITY SERVICES.
HOME DELIVERED MEALS IS A SERVICE DESIGNED TO HELP SENIORS MAINTAIN THEIR INDEPENDENCE AS THEY FACE FINANCIAL, PHYSICAL, OR EMOTIONAL HARDSHIPS. IN ADDITION TO THE NUTRITIONAL BENEFIT, THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES A YEARLY WELLNESS CHECK FOR SENIORS.
CONGREGATE MEALS ARE SERVED TO PERSONS AT A SENIOR CENTER, COMMUNITY CENTER OR OTHER NUTRITION SITE.
