FIRST3YEARS NURTURES EARLY RELATIONAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF INFANTS AND TODDLERS IN TEXAS. WORKING IN DEEP COLLABORATION WITH CAREGIVERS, PARENTS, AND PROFESSIONALS STATEWIDE, WE CULTIVATE STRONG EARLY CHILDHOOD SYSTEMS, EDUCATE OUR WORKFORCE, AND ADVANCE BEST PRACTICES.

SAFE BABIES-A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH TO TRANSFORM THE EXPERIENCE OF INFANTS AND TODDLERS IN THE CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM FROM TRAUMATIC TO HEALING. IN 2022, WE SERVED 73 CHILDREN 0-36 MONTHS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHICH IMPACTED AN ADDITIONAL 160 INDIVIDUALS IN 3 URBAN TEXAS COUNTIES. WITHIN OUR CLOSED CASES, WE REACHED 81% FAMILY DETERMINED OUTCOMES, SURPASSING OUR ANNUAL GOAL. WE ALSO TRAINED 605 CHILD WELFARE PROFESSIONALS ON KEY EC TOPICS ACROSS TEXAS.
COMMUNITY SYSTEMS-BABIES IN BAYTOWN (BIB) AND THE HOUSTON INFANT TODDLER COALITION (HITC) BRING COMMUNITY ORGANIZATONS AND FAMILIES TOGETHER TO DEVELOP LOCAL SOLUTIONS TO ENHANCE THE MENTAL HEALTH OF VERY YOUNG CHILDREN AND TO PROMOTE SYSTEMS-WIDE CHANGE TO IMPROVE THE DEVELOPMENT OF INFANTS AND TODDLERS IN SE TEXAS. BIB GAVE DIRECT ASSISTANCE TO OVER 700 INDIVIDUALS WHILE HITC ENGAGED 368 PARTICIPANTS IN COALITION ACTIVITIES IN 2022. BRIGHT BY TEXT (BBT) PROVIDES FREE TIPS, INFORMATION, GAMES, AND RESOURCES TO PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS OF YOUNG CHILDREN. IN 2022, BBT SERVED 940 ADULTS CARING FOR 1,272 CHILDREN IN HARRIS COUNTY.
PROFESSIONAL & PARENT EDUCATION-FIRST3YEARS EMPOWERS CAREGIVERS AND STAKEHOLDER SYSTEMS THROUGH TRAINING IN CURRENT RESEARCH AND BEST PRACTICES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT. WE TRAINED 1,767 UNDUPLICATED EC PROFESSIONALS WHOSE WORK AFFECTS OVER 190,000 CHILDREN. 99% OF TRAINING ATTENDEES REPORTED THAT FIRST3YEARS TRAINING MET OR EXCEEDED THEIR EXPECTATIONS. 1,664 HOURS OF CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS WERE PROVIDED TO EC PROFESSIONALS ACROSS THE STATE IN 2022 WHILE OUR INFANT MENTAL HEALTH ENDORSEMENT PROGRAM APPROVED THE CREDENTIALS OF 90 PROFESSIONALS SERVING INFANTS, TODDLERS, AND THEIR FAMILIES.
