THROUGH HIGH-QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (YEARS 0-5) AND CARING FAMILY SUPPORT, OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL EQUIPS LOW-INCOME CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL AND IN LIFE.

THE SCHOOL WAS CREATED IN 1969 BY VOLUNTEERS TO ADDRESS A COMMUNITY NEED - CHILDREN WHO LACKED BASIC LEARNING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES ENTERED SCHOOL UNPREPARED FOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, AND MANY NEVER CAUGHT UP TO THEIR PEERS. THE SCHOOL HAS PROVIDED NEARLY 3,800 YOUNG CHILDREN WITH EXCELLENT EARLY EDUCATION AND SUPPORT. THE TWO CAMPUSES ASSISTS WORKING FAMILIES BY OFFERING A FULL-DAY, YEAR-ROUND LEARNING AND CARE PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN OF LOW-INCOME FAMILIES. NURTURE AND EDUCATION AT EACH AGE LEVEL FOCUS ON CHILDREN'S DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS, AND BUILDS ON A CONTINUIM OF LEARNING. TEACHERS CONDUCT 1 HOME/PARENT VISIT EACH MONTH.
