THE PURPOSE OF THE ELLIS COUNTY MUSEUM (1) TO COLLECT, PRESERVE, AND INTERPRET ARTIFACTS AND INFORMATION ON THE SCIENTIFIC, TECHNOLOGICAL, ARTISTIC, SOCIAL, POLITICAL, EDUCATIONAL, NATURAL, ECONOMIC, AND CULTURAL HISTORY OF ELLIS COUNTY; (2) TO MAKE MUSEUM HOLDINGS AND INFORMATION ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC BY MEANS OF PUBLICATIONS, AND EXHIBITIONS; (3) AND TO ENGAGE IN AND ENCOURAGE OT HERS TO ENGAGE IN STUDY AND EDUCATIONAL USE OF THE MUSEUM'S HOLDINGS AND COLLECTIONS.

THE ELLIS COUNTY MUSEUM OWNS A BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN WAXAHACHIE, TEXAS THAT CONTAINS HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS RELATING TO ELLIS COUNTY. THE ARTIFACTS ARE ON DISPLAY TO THE PUBLIC AT NO CHARGE. THESE PROMOTE ELLIS COUNTY AND ENCOURAGES TOURISM AND THE PRESERVATION OF ELLIS COUNTY AND WAXAHACHIE. THE MUSEUM TYPICALLY HAS OVER 4,000 VISITORS A YEAR.
