THE MUSEUM OF THE SOUTHERN JEWISH EXPERIENCE EXPLORES THE MANY WAYS THAT JEWS IN THE AMERICAN SOUTH INFLUENCED AND WERE INFLUENCED BY THE DISTINCT CULTURAL HERITAGE OF THEIR COMMUNITIES.

FROM JANUARY 2021 TO MAY 26, 2021, THE MUSEUM WAS FABRICATING AND INSTALLING ITS EXHIBITS AND BACK-OF-HOUSE FURNISHINGS, AND PREPARING FOR ITS MAY 27 OPENING TO THE PUBLIC. FROM MAY 27 TO DECEMBER 31, 2021, THE MUSEUM WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR 166 DAYS. THE MUSEUM WELCOMED 4,768 VISITORS IN 2021. DURING THAT TIME THE MUSEUM CONDUCTED 26 VIRTUAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO THE PUBLIC WITH AN OVERALL AUDIENCE OF APPROXIMATELY 1,300 PEOPLE PARTICIPATING LIVE AND A FURTHER UNQUANTIFIABLE NUMBER OF PEOPLE VIEWING PROGRAM RECORDINGS. DUE TO COVID, THE MUSEUM DID NOT CONDUCT ANY ON-SITE PUBLIC PROGRAMS IN 2021. THE MUSEUM PUBLISHED 12 MONTHLY EDUCATIONAL NEWSLETTERS IN 2021, DISTRIBUTED TO APPROXIMATELY 5,000 PEOPLE.
