THE GREATER KILLEEN FREE CLINIC PROVIDED PRIMARY HEALTHCARE TO LOW INCOME, UNINSURED RESIDENTS OF KILLEEN AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES, PROVIDING 8,050 PATIENT VISITS IN 2021. SERVICES INCLUDED ACUTE CARE, A CHRONIC DISEASE PROGRAM FOR DIABETES, HYPERTENSION AND OTHER LONG TERM HEALTH ISSUES, MEDICATION ASSISTANCE, CASE MANAGEMENT, A COMMUNITY WIDE DENTAL DAY AND OPTOMETRY SERVICES. IN ADDITION, PSYCHIATRY AND OTHER MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES WERE PROVIDED PART-TIME AT THE CLINIC SITE. THE CLINIC OPERATED UTILIZING PAID STAFF AND VOLUNTEER STAFF, ALONG WITH TRAINING UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS IN A VARIETY OF DISCIPLINES, INCLUDING DOCTORAL NURSING PROGRAMS. THROUGH ITS CONTRACT WITH AMERICORPS VISTA, THE CLINIC CONTINUED ITS WORK AT A COMMUNITY LEVEL COLLABORATION, CREATING THE COALITION FOR HEALTHY LIVING.
