THE MISSION OF THE HOUSTON NORTHWEST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS DEVELOPING SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSES AND THRIVING COMMUNITY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE PURPOSE OF THE HOUSTON NORTHWEST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS TO PROMOTE AREA BUSINESSES AND ENHANCE MEMBER VALUE THROUGH REGULAR PROGRAMS AND EVENTS. SUCH ACTIVITIES INCLUDE NETWORKING EVENTS, OPEN TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS ALIKE, COMMUNITY LUNCHEONS INVOLVING AN AREA LEADER TO PROVIDE A KEYNOTE ADDRESS, A TABLE-TOP BUSINESS EXPO, AND SEVERAL INFORMATIONAL ECONOMIC FORUMS AND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT SEMINARS. THE CHAMBER ALSO PERFORMS RIBBON CUTTINGS FOR NEW BUSINESSES AND PROVIDES PUBLICITY AND ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ITS MEMBERS. THE ORGANIZATIONS KEY INITIATIVE TO WAS TO RECRUIT AND RETAIN MEMBERSHIP. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY IMPLEMENTING SEVERAL MARKETING TACTICS SUCH AS SAME-DAY SIGN UP DISCOUNTS, FIRST YEAR MEMBER BENEFIT COMMUNICATIONS, RENEWAL ANNIVERSARY RESETS FOR PAST DUE MEMBERS, AND DUES INCREASE DELAY FOR EARLY RENEWALS. THE CHAMBER ADVOCATES WITH LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT FOR FLOOD MITIGATION FUNDING, INCREASED LAW ENFORCEMENT/CRIME REDUCTION, AND TRANSPORTATION FUNDING. THE HOUSTON NORTHWEST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ALSO FUNDS A LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, WHICH WORKS WITH THE OTHER AREA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS AND THE STATE TO ATTRACT NEW BUSINESSES TO THE AREA AND RETAIN EXISTING BUSINESSES. ITS OTHER PRIMARY INITIATIVE IS TO CREATE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT IN THE SERVICE AREAS MAIN COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR. THIS EFFORT IS INTENDED TO ADDRESS CRIME, ECONOMICALLY DISTRESSED PROPERTIES AND ATTRACT NEW BUSINESSES TO THE AREA. THIS IS AN ONGOING EFFORT.


GROW NORTHWEST IS THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRANCH OF THE HOUSTON NORTHWEST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. PRIMARY GOALS INCLUDE: ATTRACTING NEW BUSINESS TO THE AREA, IMPROVING SAFETY & SECURITY, AND MARKETING AND BRANDING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. GROW NORTHWEST'S PRIORITY INITIATIVE IS THE CREATION OF A MANAGEMENT DISTRICT ALONG THE PRIMARY COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR OF ITS SERVICE. THIS THOROUGHFARE HAS EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC BLIGHT BROUGHT ON BY CRIME, VAGRANCY AND BUSINESS CLOSURES. A MANAGEMENT DISTRICT IS A MECHANISM THAT GENERATES RESOURCES THROUGH AN ASSESSMENT OF THE COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES WITHIN THE DISTRICT TO BRING ABOUT REVITALIZATION BY ENGAGING IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS ACTIVITIES. GROW NORTHWEST ALSO OFFERS ECONOMIC RESEARCH AND MARKET DATA FOR EXISTING AND PROSPECTIVE BUSINESSES LOOKING INTO THE AREA.
