WOODBURY THRIVES CONNECTS OUR COMMUNITY TO INSPIRE HEALTH AND WELLBEING FOR EVERYONE. DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR, IN-PERSON ACTIVITIES RESUMED. COLLABORATING WITH THE CITY OF WOODBURY, M HEALTH FAIRVIEW, GREAT RIVER GREENING AND OTHERS, THRIVES PRESENTED: POLLINATOR CORRIDOR WALK/SPRING; POLLINATOR CORRIDOR WALK/FALL; COLBY LAKE PARK CLEANUP/SPRING; COLBY LAKE PARK CLEANUP AND INVASIVE SPECIES REMOVAL/FALL; VOLKSSPORTS WALK IN JULY; RIDE, STRIDE OR GLIDE IN AUGUST; FLU VACCINATION CLINIC IN OCTOBER. THRIVES PARTNERED WITH THE CITY OF WOODBURY, MASTER GARDENERS OF WOODBURY AND LOCAL SCOUTS TO ESTABLISH A COMMUNITY GARDEN PILOT THAT WAS SUCCESSFUL AND WILL EXPAND IN THE NEW YEAR.
EACH YEAR, WCF MAKES DONATIONS TO COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS IN THE AREAS OF FOOD INSECURITY, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, PUBLIC SAFETY AND HEALTH AND WELLNESS. DURING THIS YEAR, ADDITIONAL EMPHASIS WAS PLACED ON THOSE THAT ADDRESSED RACIAL EQUITY. IN ADDITION, HOLIDAY PROGRAMS DEVELOP FOOD PACKS AND COLLECT WINTER CLOTHING FOR NEEDY STUDENTS IN AREA SCHOOLS. FUNDS ARE RAISED THROUGH TARGETED FUNDRAISING AND AS PART OF THE PROCEEDS FROM THE FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. COMMUNITY GRANTS DURING THIS YEAR TOTALED 31,900.
FOSTERING PHILANTHROPY IN OUR COMMUNITY - AS A FOUNDATION, WCF PARTNERS WITH LOCAL INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN CREATION OF FUNDS TARGETED AT COMMUNITY NEEDS. MANAGEMENT OF THEIR FUNDS AND ASSISTING IN THEIR FUNDRAISING EFFORTS IS ONE ASPECT OF OUR ROLE IN FOSTERING PHILANTHROPY. IN ADDITION, WCF RAISES CHARITABLE FUNDS THROUGH OUR FUNDRAISING EVENTS (E.G. FRIENDS FEST), COMMUNITY-WIDE EFFORTS LIKE GIVE TO THE MAX, A YEAR-END CAMPAIGN AND TARGETED EVENTS AND PROMOTIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE CONSULT WITH INDIVIDUALS ABOUT CREATION OF FUNDS AND LEGACY GIVING. WE ALSO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY ON NEEDS OF UNDERPRIVILEGED AND OTHERWISE CHALLENGED PARTS OF OUR COMMUNITY.
