THE MISSION OF THE ALABAMA INSTITUTE FOR EDUCATION IN THE ARTS IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALABAMA'S CHILDREN BY PROVIDING INTENSIVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN COMPREHENSIVE AND INTEGRATED ARTS FOR ALL EDUCATORS.

AIEA IS A MULTI-ARTS ORGANIZATION THAT CONDUCTS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING IN COMPREHENSIVE DISCIPLINE BASED ARTS EDUCATION. DISCIPLINE BASED ARTS EXPERTS ARE HIRED FROM AROUND THE U.S. FOR SUMMER INSTITUTES TO PRESENT TO MASTER TEACHERS, FACILITATORS, AND TEACHING ARTISTS. PROFESSIONAL ALABAMA ARTISTS ARE ENGAGED TO WORK WITH ALABAMA TEACHERS AT ALL INSTITUTE TRAINING SESSION.
THE STAFF CONDUCTS MULTIPLE SITE VISITS TO PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS, PRESENTS AT LOCAL AND REGIONAL WORKSHOPS, SERVES AS GRANT REVIEWERS FOR STATE ARTS AND EDUCATION AGENCIES, SERVES AS CONSULTANTS WITH SCHOOLS OF HIGHER EDUCATION, PROVIDES FACULTY WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOLS ON REQUEST, AND MAKES RECRUITING VISITS TO SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT ALABAMA.
INSTITUTE MEETING SPACES AND SCHOOL AND TEACHER SUPPLIES FOR ART, MUSIC, THEATER, AND DANCE TEAMS ARE PROVIDED. THE DIRECTOR IS FOCUSING ON PROGRAM DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT ALONG WITH SECURING CONTINUOUS AND ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR EXPANDING PROJECTS.
