THE ANNUAL BANQUET IS HELD IN JANUARY OF EACH YEAR TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE NEWLY ELECTED CHAIRMAN, VICE CHAIRMAN, TREASURER AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS. IN ADDITION, THE CHAMBER PRESENTS FOUR AWARDS, THE CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR AN INDIVIDUAL; BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR BUSINESS; NON-PROFIT CIVIC AWARD FOR CIVIC ORGANIZATION AND THE VIRGINIA TYLER GUILLOTTE MEMORIAL AWARD.
BUSINESS LUNCHEONS ARE HELD MONTHLY TO KEEP CHAMBER MEMBERS ABREAST OF CURRENT ISSUES IN ST. MARY PARISH AND IN OUR STATE. IN ADDITION THE CHAMBER WILL HOLD POLITICAL FORUMS FOR ELECTED POSITIONS THAT AFFECT OUR MEMBERSHIP.
LEADERSHIP ST. MARY IS A PROGRAM TO HELP RECRUIT AND DEVELOP LEADERS WHO WILL BE ACTIVE AND INVOLVED IN MOVING OUR PARISH FORWARD. THE FUTURE FOCUS OF THESE LEADERS WILL BE ON IMPROVING THE BUSINESS, EDUCATIONAL, GOVERNMENTAL, AND COMMUNITY (QUALITY OF LIFE) ENVIRONMENTS IN ST. MARY PARISH. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, POTENTIAL LEADERS ARE EXPOSED TO A RANGE OF IDEAS AND EXPERIENCES THAT WILL BEST PREPARE THEM TO GUIDE ST. MARY TOWARD ACHIEVING ITS HIGHEST POTENTIAL. IN THE COURSE OF THE PROGRAM, MEMBERS WILL DEVELOP THE SKILLS NEEDED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROCESSES THAT FORM THE FOUNDATION OF CIVIC LEADERSHIP: COALITION BUILDING, SIGNIFICANT DIALOG, CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING AND CONSENSUS BUILDING.
