THE ORGANIZATION HOSTS THE ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL, AN ANNUAL COLLEGIATE FOOTBALL POST-SEASON BOWL GAME. THE ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL IS ONE OF THE OLDEST BOWL GAMES IN THE COUNTRY, HOSTING ITS 88TH ANNUAL COLLEGIATE BOWL GAME ON JANUARY 1, 2022. 66,749 SPECTATORS ATTENDED THE JANUARY 1, 2022 EVENT, WITH APPROXIMATELY 64.8 PERCENT OF THE ATTENDEES COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS METROPOLITAN AREA.
THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS 25 AMATEUR SPORTING AND RECOGNITION EVENTS IN LOUISIANA AND AROUND THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS METROPOLITAN AREA. TO PROMOTE AMATEUR SPORTS IN THE AREA, THE SUGAR BOWL SUPPORTED STATE AND LOCAL ASSOCIATIONS FOR VOLLEYBALL, GOLF, REGATTA, LACROSSE, SOCCER, SWIMMING, AND BASKETBALL. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS THE MANNING AWARD, THE NEW ORLEANS SPORTS HALL OF FAME, AND THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION. THE SUM TOTAL OF THE ECONOMIC IMPACT FOR ALL SUGAR BOWL ACTIVITIES WAS $210 MILLION IN 2021-2022.
DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2012, THE SUGAR BOWL DONATED $1,000,000 TO A LOCAL FOUNDATION FOR THE RESTRICTED PURPOSE OF RESTORING THE FACILITIES OF JOE BROWN PARK IN NEW ORLEANS. ACCOMPANYING THIS DONATION IS A COMMITMENT TO THE FOUNDATION OF $100,000 PER YEAR FOR 10 YEARS OF DEDICATED MAINTENANCE AND PROGRAMMING.
