PROMOTING CITIZEN INTEREST AND PARTICIPATION IN THE APPRECIATION AND PRESERVATION OF PORT ARANSAS' HISTORY, ENVIRONMENT AND AMBIANCE.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE ORGANIZATION IS DEDICATED TO PRESERVING THE TINY FISHING TOWN OF PORT ARANSAS, TEXAS. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES THE PORT ARANSAS MUSEUM, WHICH IS OPEN THREE DAYS A WEEK. VOLUNTEERS GIVE TOURS OF THE MUSEUM AND THE LITTLE CHAPEL ON THE HILL; WORK OUTREACH WITH SCHOOLS ON HISTORICAL LESSONS; PROVIDE GAMES AND TUTORIALS; AND ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON ESTABLISHING WALKING TOURS. FARLEY BOAT WORKS IS A LIVING EXHIBIT WITH A FUNCTIONAL BOAT BUILDING SHOP WITH CLASSES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. IN ADDITION TO THE TWO MAIN INSTITUTIONS, THE ORGANIZATION IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON THE SCOW SCHOONER PROJECT AND CONSTRUCTION HAS BEGUN ON A NEW MARITIME MUSEUM. DURING 2021, THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED ITS FREE WINTER LECTURE SERIES, THE ANNUAL OLD TOWN FESTIVAL AND WOODEN BOAT FESTIVAL, AND A POETRY CONTEST.
