CARE FOR JEWS IN NEED - CARE AND AGING PROGRAMS THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF ARKANSAS PROVIDES PROGRAMS TO ASSIST FAMILIES IN NEED IN ARKANSAS AND THE ELDERLY IN ARKANSAS. THE FAMILY SERVICES COMMITTEE PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN RESPONSE TO REQUESTS FROM JEWISH INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN NEED OR IN CRISIS. THE CARE AND AGING PROGRAM HELPS SENIORS MAINTAIN TIES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY THROUGH A FRIENDLY VISITOR PROGRAM.
ENSURING JEWISH FUTURE AR-YOUTH THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF ARKANSAS IS COMMITTED TO ENSURING THAT THE CHILDREN AND YOUTH OF ARKANSAS HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET OTHER JEWISH CHILDREN AND ARE EXPOSED TO JEWISH LEARNING. THE FEDERATION IMPLEMENTS SPECIAL PROGRAMS TO MAKE SURE THAT JEWISH CHILDREN THROUGHOUT ARKANSAS BENEFIT FROM THE NATIONAL PJ LIBRARY PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES FREE BOOKS TO CHILDREN TO HELP BUILD JEWISH IDENTITY AND UNDERSTANDING. THE PJ LIBRARY PROGRAM SERVES OVER 100 CHILDREN AGES 6 MONTHS TO 8 YEARS IN ARKANSAS. IN ADDITION, CAMP AND EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS ARE PROVIDED TO YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS TO INSTILL A LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE HERITAGE OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE. THE FEDERATION PROVIDES A GRANT TO THE JEWISH STUDIES PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS IN FAYETTEVILLE FOR A CLASS IN ANCIENT AND MODERN JEWISH LANGUAGES INCLUDING HEBREW, JEWISH ARAMAIC AND YIDDISH..
SUPPORTING GLOBAL JEWRY THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF ARKANSAS SERVES AS A CENTRAL RESOURCE FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION ABOUT GLOBAL JEWRY AND ISRAEL. THE FEDERATION WORKED WITH THE JEWISH NATIONAL FUND-USA, A DOMESTIC 501C3 CHARITY, TO HELP PROVIDE A BOMB SHELTER/CLASSROOM FOR THE RED MOUNTAIN THERAPEUTIC RIDING CENTER IN ISRAEL. THE FEDERATION ALSO PROVIDED A GRANT FOR A BIRTHRIGHT STAFF MEMBER FROM ARKANSAS TO ACCOMPANY STUDENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS ON A BIRTHRIGHT EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY TO ISRAEL AND ASSISTED TWO YOUTH WITH EDUCATIONAL TRAVEL GRANTS TO ISRAEL.
