PROVIDING NON CLINICAL SUPPORTS TO THOSE IMPACTED BY MENTAL ILLNESS THROUGH EDUCATION, OUTREACH, AND ADVOCACY.

NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (NAMI CC) HAD SECURED FUNDING FROM CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES TO IMPLEMENT A COUNTY WIDE PROGRAM TO ADVOCATE FOR THE MENTALLY ILL AND THOSE CARING FOR THEM. WE THEN RENEWED THE CONTRACT FOR THE FY 2018-2019 AND HAS SINCE BECOME A MAJOR PROGRAM TO RECRUIT VOLUNTEER TO HELP BUILD MORE SUPPORT FOR CONTRA COSTA COUNTY. NAMI CC ALSO HIRED A FULL-TIME EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO HELP FOCUS THE COMPANIES FUNDRAISING AND STREAMLINE AND EMPHASIZE ALL PROGRAMS. NAMI CC HAD ALSO UNDERWENT A STRINGENT RE-AFFILIATED PROCESS WITH NAMI NATIONAL WHICH HAS BEEN ACCEPTED.


WE WERE FUNDED IN FEBRUARY 2021 FOR A CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH PEER WORKFORCE GRANT. THIS NON CLINICAL SUPPORT PROGRAM USES FAMILY MEMBER AND PEERS LIVED EXPERIENCES TO SUPPORT AFRICAN AMERICANS IMPACTED BY MENTAL ILLNESS USING COMMUNITY DEFINED APPROACHES.
