LOCAL PROGRAM AFFILIATE ACTIVITIES & SUPPORT. NAMI OREGON HAS 11 UNINCORPORATED LOCAL CHAPTERS THAT OPERATE AS PROGRAMS OF NAMI OREGON. EACH LOCAL CHAPTER IS OVERSEEN BY A LOCAL STEERING COMMITTEE THAT DIRECTS EDUCATION AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS IN THE SPECIFIC CHAPTER'S SERVICE AREA, IN ADDITION TO OTHER MISSION-RELATED ACTIVITIES. NAMI OREGON SUPPORTS THE WORK OF THOSE 11 LOCAL CHAPTERS BY PROVIDING ADMINISTRATIVE AND GOVERNANCE SUPPORT AND BY SUPPORTING EDUCATION AND OUTREACH ACTIVITIES FOR EACH CHAPTER. THIS INCLUDES ASSIGNING DEDICATED STAFF POSITIONS TO INDIVIDUAL CHAPTERS WHERE SUCH STAFFING IS VIABLE AND SUSTAINABLE.
OUTREACH & ADVOCACY - NAMI OREGON IS THE LARGEST MEMBERSHIP-BASED MENTAL HEALTH ORGANIZATION IN THE STATE OF OREGON AND IS RECOGNIZED AS THE LEADING VOICE ON MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AMONG STATE LAWMAKERS AND AMONG LOCAL MENTAL HEALTH POLICYMAKERS ACROSS THE STATE.
