REHABILITATIVE GOLF EXPERIENCES FOR COMBAT-WOUNDED VETERANS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THESE AMERICAN HEROES. THE SMGA BELIEVES THAT THE REHABILITATIVE BENEFITS OF GOLF CAN IMPROVE THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL CONDITION OF EACH AND EVERY WARRIOR RETURNING FROM COMBAT.

CHAPTERS:IN 2023, SMGA THROUGH ITS 8 CHAPTERS AND OUR AMERICAN GOLFER PROGRAM, PROVIDED REHABILITATIVE GOLF INSTRUCTIONS TO OVER 215 VETERANS AND SERVICE MEMBERS. 191 OF THOSE VETERANS COMPLETED THE GOLF LESSONS AND RECEIVED A NEW SET OF CUSTOM FITTED GOLF CLUBS TO MATCH THEIR INDIVIDUAL REQUIREMENTS. A NEW CHAPTER WAS FORMED IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA. THEY SPONSORED THEIR FIRST GOLF TOURNAMENT AND THEIR FIRST GOLF CLINIC SERIES, PROVIDING LESSONS AND CLUBS TO 6 VETERANS. THROUGH OUR OWN TOURNAMENTS AS WELL AS THE TOURNAMENTS RUN BY OUR SUPPORTERS, OUR VETERANS HAD MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO GET OUT ON THE GOLF COURSES. SEVERAL OF OUR LUCKY VETERANS GOT TO PARTICIPATE IN EVENTS LIKE MONDAY AFTER THE MASTERS, AT MYRTLE BEACH, AND SOME GOT TO PARTICIPATE IN PRO-AM EVENTS WITH PGA GOLFERS.
TOURNAMENTS:SMGA AND OUR SPONSORS WERE ABLE TO HOST 15 TOURNAMENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THESE TOURNAMENTS NOT ONLY PROVIDED SMGA WITH RESOURCES TO SUPPORT OUR VETERANS BUT ALSO PROVIDED OUR WOUNDED AND INJURED VETERANS WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURNAMENTS.ONCE AGAIN, THE ANNUAL SMGA TOURNAMENT AT MANOR COUNTRY REMAINED OUR LARGEST FUND RAISER, FOR 2023 THE TOURNAMENT AT MANOR COUNTY CLUB RAISED OVER $125,000 IN REVENUE, SURPASSING ALL PREVIOUS YEARS. IN ADDITION, OUR 3RD ANNUAL VET-AM TOURNAMENT AT ARGYLE COUNTRY CLUB CONTINUES TO GROW. FOR 2023 THE TOURNAMENT GROSSED $33,500.IN ADDITION, THE NEW ENGLAND/RHODE ISLAND CHAPTER OF SMGA HOSTED 7 TOURNAMENTS THROUGHOUT NEW ENGLAND TO INCLUDE TOURNAMENTS AT SPRINGFIELD CC, WALPOLE CC, BLACKSTONE NATIONAL AND FERNCROFT CC IN MASSACHUSETTS AND TOURNAMENTS AT PAWTUCKET CC AND CRANSTON CC IN RHODE ISLAND.
