FIRST TEE OF ROANOKE VALLEY ENABLES KIDS TO BUILD THE STRENGTH OF CHARACTER THAT EMPOWERS THEM THROUGH A LIFETIME OF CHANGE. BY INTEGRATING OUR LIFE SKILLS CURRICULUM WITH THE GAME OF GOLF, WE ARE CREATING ACTIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT BUILD INNER STRENGTH, SELF-CONFIDENCE AND RESILIENCE. SCOTT ROBERTSON MEMORIAL JUNIOR GOLF ACADEMY DBA THE FIRST TEE OF ROANOKE VALLEY IS A NON PROFIT CORPORATION ORGANIZED TO IMPACT THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE BY PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT BUILD CHARACTER, INSTILL LIFE-ENHANCING VALUES AND PROMOTE HEALTHY CHOICES THROUGH THE GAME OF GOLF.

SCHOOL PROGRAMS- IN 2021, DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, OUTSIDE INSTRUCTORS WERE GENERALLY NOT ALLOWED IN SCHOOLS, THEREFORE FIRST TEE STAFF PROVIDED TEACHERS WITH AN ENGAGING CURRICULUM TO SHARE WITH STUDENTS. WE PROVIDED PROGRAM MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT FOR TEACHERS AT AREA ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS TO INTRODUCE FIRST TEE LIFESKILLS AND GOLF CURRICULUM TO STUDENTS. APPROXIMATELY 3,777 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN THESE PROGRAMS AT AREA SCHOOLS.
PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMS - OUR PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMS CONTINUED TO BE GREATLY IMPACTED BY THE PANDEMIC IN 2021. WHEN AND WHERE IT WAS POSSIBLE FOR IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION, WE PROVIDED GOLF INSTRUCTIONS AND LIFE SKILL TRAINING AT AREA YOUTH SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS TO 74 YOUNGSTERS ENROLLED IN 21ST CENTURY CENTERS. PROGRAM INCLUDES ON-SITE VISITS WITH INSTRUCTIONAL TIME WHERE LIFE SKILLS NEEDED FOR PRODUCTIVE LIVES ARE TAUGHT AS PART OF LEARNING THE GAME OF GOLF.
INSTRUCTION & TOURNAMENTS - APPROXIMATELY 327 CHILDREN ENROLLED IN FIRST TEE CURRICULUM OF LIFE SKILLS AND GOLF INSTRUCTION PROGRAMS CONDUCTED AT THE SCOTT ROBERTSON ACADEMY. ADDITIONALLY, TOURNAMENTS, PLAYDAYS, PRACTICES AND ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES THAT INVOLVE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ANNUALLY WERE HELD AT SELECT AREA GOLF COURSES. BASED LEARNING AND PRACTICE ACTIVITIES.
