SUPPORTED LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING WITH OVER 250 COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO SUPPORT PROGRAMS RELATING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION, TRANSPORTATION, COMMUNITY SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE AND COMMUNITY JOURNALISM. SUPPORTED COMMUNITY MUTUAL AID GROUPS TO PROVIDE RESOURCES TO MEET THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND DEVELOP BEST PRACTICES FOR MUTUAL AID PROGRAMMING.
TRAINED 17 COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AS WELL AS AN ADDITIONAL 35 VOLUNTEERS, TO WORK AS TENANT NAVIGATORS. TENANT NAVIGATORS CONDUCTED OUTREACH THROUGHOUT LOS ANGELES CITY AND COUNTY TO INFORM RENTERS OF SPECIAL RIGHTS AND PROTECTIONS DURING THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY, CONDUCTED WORKSHOPS ON TENANTS RIGHTS, CONNECTED TENANTS WITH LEGAL ASSISTANCE AND HELPED TENANTS APPLY FOR RENTAL AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS.
WORKED WITH RESIDENTS DIRECTLY FACING HOUSING INSECURITY TO EDUCATE ELECTED OFFICIALS AT THE LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL LEVELS ABOUT OUR HOMES GUARANTEE PLATFORM AND OUR PROPOSALS TO PREVENT EVICTIONS AND TO CREATE AND PRESERVE AFFORDABLE HOUSING. OVER 1,500 COMMUNITY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN HOMES GUARANTEE PROGRAMMING TO EDUCATE PUBLIC OFFICIALS ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH HOUSING INSECURITY.
