THE MISSION OF THE EARLY LEARNING COALITION OF FLORIDA'S HEARTLAND, INC. IS TO SUPPORT FAMILIES AND CHILDREN IN ACCESSING HIGH QUALITY EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION SERVICES VIA SCHOOL READINESS AND VOLUNTARY PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS.

SCHOOL READINESS SCHOLARSHIPS WERE PROVIDED TO OVER 2,291 CHILDREN FROM OVER 1,404 FAMILIES IN CHARLOTTE, DESOTO, HARDEE AND HIGHLANDS COUNTIES. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CHILD CARE AWARDED TO ELIGIBLE FAMILIES.
VOLUNTARY PREKINDERGARTEN (VPK) SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO APPROXIMATELY 1,869 CHILDREN FROM APPROXIMATELY 1,840 FAMILIES. VPK IS THE PROVISION OF A FREE PRESCHOOL SERVICE TO ALL CHILDREN RESIDING IN FLORIDA THE YEAR PRIOR TO KINDERGARTEN. CHILDREN SERVED BY THE ELCFH FOR VPK RESIDE IN CHARLOTTE, DESOTO, HARDEE OR HIGHLANDS COUNTIES.
CRRSA INCLUDES FUNDING THROUGH THE CHILD CARE AND DEVELOPMENT FUND (CCDF) TO HELP CERTAIN LOW-INCOME FAMILIES ACCESS CHILD CARE AND TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF CHILD CARE FOR ALL CHILDREN.
