BALLET MISSISSIPPI PERFORMANCESOVER 7,000 PATRONS ATTENDED BALLET MISSISSIPPI PERFORMANCES DURING FY2021. IN DECEMBER, BALLET MISSISSIPPI PRESENTED NUTCRACKER SWEETS FEATURING ACT II OF THE NUTCRACKER, WHICH OFFERED PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE SOUTHEAST THE OPPORTUNITY TO CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAY SEASON THROUGH THE ENJOYMENT AND APPRECIATION OF THIS BALLET CLASSIC. BALLET MS HELD TWO MATINEE PERFORMANCES FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC WITH SOCIALLY DISTANCED SEATING. DUE TO NEW COVID-19 PROTOCOLS, DANCERS AND PATRONS WERE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS AND TEMPERATURES WERE CHECKED AT THE DOOR. IN MAY, ALL BALLET MISSISSIPPI STUDENTS PERFORMED IN A SPRING PRODUCTION, UP, UP, & AWAY, AT THE BELHAVEN CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS. BALLET MS HELD TWO EVENING PERFORMANCES FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC WITH SOCIALLY DISTANCED SEATING. DUE TO NEW COVID-19 PROTOCOLS, PATRONS WERE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS AND TEMPERATURES WERE CHECKED AT THE DOOR.
BALLET MISSISSIPPI SCHOOLBALLET MISSISSIPPI OFFERS CLASSES AND PERFORMING OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS OF ALL AGES, FROM AGE THREE TO ADULT. THE SCHOOL'S FOCUS IS CLASSICAL BALLET AND STUDENTS COMPLEMENT THEIR TRAINING WITH CLASSES IN DIFFERENT STYLES OF DANCE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. ALL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN THE YEAR-END RECITAL AND UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS PERFORMED ROLES IN THREE ADDITIONAL PRODUCTIONS BEFORE LARGE AUDIENCES. THE BALLET MISSISSIPPI FACULTY INSTRUCTED CLASSES FOR APPROXIMATELY 175 STUDENTS AND IN SUMMER CLASSES LED BY GUEST ARTISTS.
BALLET MISSISSIPPI OUTREACHCOMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS SERVED AS AN IMPORTANT VEHICLE TO INCREASE AUDIENCE ACCESSIBILITY. BALLET MISSISSIPPI PERFORMED AT BARACK H. OBAMA MAGNET SCHOOL, DECK THE DISTRICT, AND FOR THE MISSISSIPPI MUSEUM OF ART AND ST. ANDREW'S EPISCOPAL SCHOOL ARTS ON THE SCREEN VIRTUAL EVENTS.
