THE MISSION OF DELTA FESTIVAL BALLET IS TO FOSTER AN APPRECIATION OF THE BALLET ART FORM IN THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS AREA AND THROUGHOUT LOUISIANA. TO ACHIEVE THIS MISSION, DELTA FESTIVAL BALLET WILL:

DELTA FESTIVAL BALLETS ANNUAL HOLIDAY SEASON OFFERING OF THE NUTCRACKER IS THE COMPANYS CORNERSTONE AND SINGLE PROGRAM SERVICE. NUTCRACKER WAS HELD ON DECEMBER 16TH AND 17TH, 2023 AT THE MAHALIA JACKSON THEATRE, IN NEW ORLEANS. BEGUN IN 1981 AND INTERUPTED ONLY ONCE IN 2005 BY HURRICANE KATRINA, DELTAS ANNUAL PRESENTATION OF THE NUTCRACKER IS THE MOST LAVISH PRODUCTION IN THE NEW ORLEANS AREA, WITH A CAST OF MORE THAN 100 DANCERS, ELABORATE SETS AND BEAUTIFUL COSTUMES. DELTAS IS ALSO THE ONLY PRODUCTION OF THE NUTCRAKER IN THE AREA USING LIVE MUSIC PROVIDED BY THE LOUISIANA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA. THE PRODUCTIONS QUALITY IS ROUNDED OUT BY THE ARTISTRY OF ACCLAIMED PROFESSIONAL DANCERS. THIRTEEN PROFESSIONAL DANCERS PERFORMED THE PRINCIPAL ROLES. THE CAST IS ROUNDED OUT WITH STUDENT DANCERS AGES 6 TO 18 CHOSEN THROUGH OPEN AUDITIONS. THIS ALLOWS ASPIRING DANCERS THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM ALONGSIDE ACCOMPLISHED PROFESSIONALS.
