THE MISSION OF BALLET SAN ANTONIO, A PROFESSIONAL BALLET ORGANIZATION, IS TO SHARE THE SPLENDOR OF DANCE THROUGH DIVERSE ARISTIC PERFORMANCES AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS THAT REFLECT, PROMOTE, AND ENRICH THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF THE SOUTH TEXAS COMMUNITY.

LIKE MANY ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, BSA WAS SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECTED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC DURING ITS 2020-21 SEASON RESULTING IN A SHORTENED PERFORMANCE SEASON AND NO IN-PERSON OUTREACH ACTIVITIES. DESPITE THE DIFFICULTIES, BSA ADJUSTED CHOREOGRAPHY BY EASTON & HALEY SMITH FOR SOCIAL-DISTANCING ON-STAGE AND PRODUCED THE NUTCRACKER V. 2020 WITH 13 LIVE, IN-THEATER PERFORMANCES AND A PROFESSIONALLY FILMED PERFORMANCE THAT WAS RELEASED TO PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT TEXAS, WITH EACH RECEIVING AN EDUCATIONAL PACKET FOR CLASSROOM DISCUSSION. THE FILMED PERFORMANCE WAS AN ASTOUNDING SUCCESS AND REACHED 67,760 STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS. IN-THEATER PERFORMANCES REACHED AN ADDITIONAL 7,218 AUDIENCE MEMBERS SERVED AT THE TOBIN CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IN SAN ANTONIO.
