THE MISSION OF THE HANCOCK COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY (THE SOCIETY) IS TO DISCOVER AND MEMORIALIZE THE HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE OF HANCOCK COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI; TO DISCOVER, PURCHASE, COMMISSION, OR PROCURE WRITINGS, NEWPAPERS, BLUEPRINTS, MAPS, JOURNALS, ETC. TO SHED LIGHT ON THE HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE OF HANCOCK COUNTY.

SALE OF BOOKS AND OTHER HISTORICALLY RELEVENT INFORMATION CONCERNING THE HISTORY OF HANCOCK COUNTY MISSISSIPPI. SUCH ITEMS CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE SOCIETY'S BAY ST LOUIS LOCATION OR ON-LINE AT HANCOCKCOUNTYHISTORICALSOCIETY.COM. MUCH OF THE INFORMATION IS WRITTEN BY LOCAL AUTHORS.
THE SOCIETY ADVERTISES AND PROMOTES EVENTS VIA ITS WEBSITE, HANCOCKCOUNTYHISTORICALSOCIETY.COM. BRINCKS ARE INSCRIBED IN MEMORY/HONOR OF LOCAL RESIDENTS AND OTHERS AND INSERTED IN THE SOCIETY'S WALKAY. THE SOCIETY HOSTS A TOUR OF LOCAL CEDAR REST CEMETERY AND HIGHLIGHTS ITS HISTORY AND THAT OF THOSE BURIED THERE. PLAQUES ARE PLACED ON LIVE OAK TREES OLDER THAN 100 YEARS. ALSO IN 2023 A $1,000 DONATION WAS MADE TO ST. AUGUSTINES CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION.
THE SOCIETY HOSTS A LUNCHEON WITH A SPEAKER EACH MONTH EXCEPT IN DECEMBER.
THE SOCEITY PRODUCES A ONE ACT PLAY ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE ORPHAN TRAINS AND THE FIVE ORPAND WHO FOUND HOMES IN BAY ST. LOUIS, MS.
