O)THE ORGANIZATION PROMOTES REMEMBERANCE OF THE HOLOCAUST BY PROVIDING TEACHERS, STUDENTS, AND INDIVIDUALS WITH SEMINARS, RESOURCES, WORKSHOPS, TRAVELING EXHIBITS AND COMMEMORATIONS. CREATES AWARENESS OF THE HOLOCAUST TO FIGHT PREJUDICE AND TO ENCOURAGE TOLERANCE AND UNDERSTANDING AMONG ALL PEOPLE.

EDUCATION OUTREACH PROGRAMS - THESE PROGRAMS SERVE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS IN PUBLIC, PRIVATE, HOME-SCHOOL, AND PAROCHIAL SETTINGS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE AT LEAST THREE ONE-DAY ANNUAL CONFERENCES IN THE THREE GRAND DIVISIONS OF THE STATE. THESE CONFERENCES ARE DESIGNED TO INTRODUCE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS TO IN-DEPTH STUDY ON RESEARCH FOCUSED TOPICS REGARDING THE HOLOCAUST. EACH CONFERENCE INCLUDES AN INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH LOCAL SURVIVORS, REFUGEES, AND LIBERATORS WHO WERE EYEWITNESSES TO THIS CRISIS IN HISTORY. THESE PROGRAMS TYPICALLY ARE REQUESTED BY AN OUTSIDE EDUCATIONAL ENTITY. THESE PROGRAMS ALSO SERVE THE CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN OF SURVIVORS THROUGH AT LEAST TWO LUNCHES EACH YEAR THAT BRING TOGETHER THESE FAMILY MEMBERS TO EDUCATE THEM ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST. UPON APPROVAL, THE COMMISSION FUNDS ALL OR A PORTION OF THESE PROGRAMS.
TEACHER RESOURCES AND LENDING LIBRARY - THIS EDUCATION PROGRAM PROVIDES "CLASSPACKS AND TRUNKS WITH MULTIMEDIA TOOLS, INCLUDING BOOKS, FIRST-PERSON TESTIMONIES, VIDEOS, CD-ROMS, MAPS, LESSON PLANS, STUDENT ACTIVITIES, AND REFERENCE MATERIALS ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST TO 17 COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEMS AS WELL AS PRIVATE SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES IN TENNESSEE. UPON REQUEST FROM THE SCHOOLS, RESOURCES AND MATERIALS ARE LOANED AND SHIPPED TO THE SCHOOLS AT NO EXPENSE TO THE SCHOOLS.
BELZ-LIPMAN AWARD - THIS IS AN ANNUAL AWARD PRESENTED TO TEACHER PARTICIPANTS IN EACH OF THE THREE GRAND DIVISIONS OF THE STATE FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST.
EXHIBITIONS (INCLUDING BOOK SALES) - THE COMMISSION MANAGES SEVERAL EXHIBITS. THE MOST AMBITIOUS PROJECT FOR THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, ENTITLED LIVING ON: PORTRAITS OF TENNESSEE SURVIVORS AND LIBERATORS, RECORDED STORIES AND PORTRAITS OF HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS, REFUGEES, AND U.S. ARMY PERSONNEL WHO LIBERATED SURVIVORS OR EXPERIENCED THE EVENTS OF THE HOLOCAUST FIRST-HAND. WHAT BEGAN AS AN INTENTION TO RECORD BIOGRAPHICAL ACCOUNTS FOR HISTORICAL PURPOSES BECAME A RICH, MULTIFACETED ARTISTIC AND EDUCATIONAL MODEL THAT HAS DRAWN AUDIENCES FROM ACROSS THE STATE. LIVING ON NOW INCLUDES A MUSEUM EXHIBITION, PUBLIC PROGRAMS, A TEACHER SEMINAR AND A VARIETY OF PRINTED MATERIALS SUPPLIED TO EVERY VENUE, INCLUDING TEACHER MATERIALS. THE COMMISSION ALSO MANAGES TWO OTHER EXHIBITS. AN EXHIBIT ENTITLED PERPETRATORS PORTRAYS THE PEOPLE WHO MADE HITLER POSSIBLE AND IS DESIGNED TO EDUCATE AND PROVOKE STUDY AND DISCUSSION. THE NELLY TOLL EXHIBIT IS A SERIES OF WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS BASED ON THE CHILDHOOD MEMORIES OF NELLY TOLL WHO WAS SIX YEARS OLD WHEN THE NAZIS OCCUPIED POLAND IN SEPTEMBER 1939.
