MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IS A STATEWIDE PROGRAM DESIGNED TO OFFER ASSISTANCE TO QUALIFIED MEDICAID BENEFICIARIES. THE PROGRAM ALLOWS QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS TO REMAIN IN A HOME OR COMMUNITY-BASED SETTING AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO NURSING FACILITY CARE OR OTHER INSTITUTIONAL CARE.
AREA AGENCY ON AGING (AAA) IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE REGION PLAN, COORDINATE AND OFFER SERVICES THAT HELP OLDER ADULTS REMAIN IN THEIR HOME - IF THAT IS THEIR PREFERENCE - AIDED BY SERVICES SUCH AS MEALS-ON-WHEELS, HOMEMAKER ASSISTANCE AND WHATEVER ELSE IT MAY TAKE TO MAKE INDEPENDENT LIVING A VIABLE OPTION. BY MAKING A RANGE OF OPTIONS AVAILABLE, AAA MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR OLDER INDIVIDUALS TO CHOOSE THE SERVICES AND LIVING ARRANGEMENT THAT SUIT THEM BEST.
THE SOCIAL SERVICES BLOCK GRANT (SSBG) IS A CAPPED ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES FUNDS TO ASSIST STATES IN DELIVERING SOCIAL SERVICES DIRECTED TOWARD THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE: 1) PREVENTING, REDUCING, OR ELIMINATING DEPENDENCY 2) ACHIEVING OR MAINTAINING SELF-SUFFICIENCY 3) PREVENTING NEGLECT, ABUSE, OR EXPLOITATION OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS 4) PREVENTING OR REDUCING INAPPROPRIATE INSTITUTIONAL CARE 5) SECURING ADMISSION OR REFERRAL FOR INSTITUTIONAL CARE WHEN OTHER FORMS OF CARE ARE NOT APPROPRIATE
NCPDD WIA CAREER TO COUNSELING (C2C) YOUTH PROGRAM OFFERS ELIGIBLE YOUTH WORK ETHICS TRAINING AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO SECURE A PAID WORK EXPERIENCE JOB WITH A LOCAL EMPLOYER. THE PROGRAM SERVES ELIGIBLE YOUTH 21 YEARS OLD OR YOUNGER WHO LIVE IN ATTALA, GRENADA, MONTGOMERY AND YALOBUSHA COUNTIES. THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION (EDA) REVOLVING LOAN FUND, THE MINORITY BUSINESS ENTERPRISE LOAN PROGRAM, AND MS SMALL BUSINESS ASSISTANCE LOAN PROGRAM (MSBALP) PROVIDE LOANS TO SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUALS.
