PRESBYTERIANS FOR RENEWAL D/B/A THE FELLOWSHIP COMMUNITY IS A NETWORK OF CHURCHES AND LEADERS CALLED TOGETHER TO PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST BY GROWING IN CHRIST'S LIKENESS, LIVING BY GOD'S WORD, AND JOINING IN GOD'S MISSION IN THE WORLD.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
WEE KIRK MINISTRY IS DESIGNED TO MOBILIZE STRONG LEADERSHIP IN THE SMALLEST CONGREGATIONS WITHIN THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (U.S.A.). THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE 10,000+ CONGREGATIONS IN THE PC (USA) ARE SMALL GROUPS OF PEOPLE, OFTEN ONLY 30-80 PEOPLE ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN THE LIFE AND WITNESS OF THEIR CONGREGATION. THE FELLOWSHIP COMMUNITY'S LARGEST MINISTRY IS TO THE PASTORS, ELDERS, AND DEACONS WHO LEAD THESE SMALL MEMBERSHIP CONGREGATIONS, OFFERING NETWORKS OF SUPPORT, RESOURCES, MENTORING, AND GUIDANCE FOR THIS HIGHLY SPECIALIZED TYPE OF MINISTRY. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS THROUGH THE SPONSORSHIP OF FIVE REGIONAL CONFERENCES, THROUGH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS WHO CAN PROVIDE TEACHING AND DISCIPLE-MAKING MATERIALS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR BOTH LOCAL AND GLOBAL MISSION. EACH OF THE CONFERENCES IS DESIGNED TO OFFER A HIGH QUALITY EXPERIENCE AT A LOW COST. MANY OF THE CONFERENCES ARE SUBSIDIZED BY INDIVIDUAL AND CONGREGATIONAL SUPPORT THAT HELPS TO KEEP THE PARTICIPANTS COST TO A MINIMUM. IN AN AVERAGE YEAR, WE WILL REACH OVER 616 CONGREGATIONS.THE NATIONAL SMALL CHURCH MINISTRY STILL FUNCTIONS, BUT THE WEEKIRK CONFERENCES WERE SPUN OFF IN JUNE OF 2016.
THE NATIONAL GATHERING IS A 3 DAY CONFERENCE HELD ANNUALLY BRINGING TOGETHER PASTORS AND LEADERS OF CONGREGATIONS FOR WORSHIP, TRAINING AND FELLOWSHIP. THERE WAS NO GATHERING HELD IN 2016, BUT SOME REGISTRATIONS AND EXPENSES WERE INCURRED IN 2016 IN PREPARATION FOR THE 2017 CONFERENCE.
CONNECTIONAL MINISTRIES IS A PROGRAM NETWORKING LIKEMINDED PASTORS AND CONGREGATIONS FOR SHARING OF BEST PRACTICES AND LIKE MINISTRIES.
