Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

WE ARE DEDICATED TO RAISING AND TRAINING ASSISTANCE DOGS AND PLACING THEM IN POSITIONS OF SERVICE. OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE A SKILLED, DEVOTED COMPANION TO SUPPORT AND ASSIST A PERSON LIVING WITH DISABILITIES -- CREATING A COHESIVE TEAM FOCUSED ON BUILDING A LIFE OF GREATER FREEDOM AND INDEPENDENCE.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

2022 HAS BEEN AN EXCITING YEAR FOR JLAD. BETWEEN THE GRADUATION IN THE SPRING AND ANOTHER ONE IN THE FALL, WE MATCHED AND SUCCESSFULLY GRADUATED 14 SERVICE DOGS. OUR DOG PROGRAM IS BACK IN FULL SWING AT EASTERN OREGON CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION (EOCI) AFTER WE WERE PERMITTED TO RE-ENTER WHEN THE COVID RESTRICTIONS WERE LIFTED. WE HAVE 32 DOGS IN TRAINING THAT ROTATE THROUGH EOCI. WE WORKED HARD ON BEING ABLE TO ENTER SOUTH FORK CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION (SFCI) WHICH WE ACCOMPLISHED IN OCTOBER. WE CURRENTLY HAVE 8 DOGS IN TRAINING THAT ROTATE THROUGH SFCI. KEEPING UP WITH THE CHANGING TIMES HAS ALSO BEEN A PRIORITY FOR JLAD. WE STARTED A GRADUAL SWITCHING OVER TO A NEW DATABASE PROGRAM IN 2021 WHICH WAS FULLY IMPLEMENTED IN JANUARY OF 2022. JLAD IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE HAVE OUR OWN GRANT WRITER, AND WE HAVE STARTED THE PROCESS TOWARDS CREATING PLANS FOR BUILDING A FACILITY SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR JLAD'S NEEDS.
