Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN 2023, THE NEW OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL FOR WOMEN AIMED TO FURTHER DEVELOP THE PARTNERSHIPS WE'D MADE AND GROW OUR PROGRAMING THROUGH THIS FOUNDATIONAL NETWORK. IN RETROSPECT, WE WERE SUCCESSFUL IN BOTH OF THESE GOALS. WE CONDUCTED SEVERAL INFORMATIONAL SELF-ESTEEM WORKSHOPS FOR LOCAL AND REGIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CENTERS INCLUDING HOPE'S WINGS IN RICHMOND AND DOVES IN MOREHEAD. WE RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF SERVING WOMEN IN CRISIS AND PLANTING THE SEEDS OF THE BENEFITS OF SELF-CARE WORK THAT WILL, HOPEFULLY, BLOOM FOR THEM ONE DAY. AT THE VERY LEAST, WE ARE OFFERING IMPACTFUL PROGRAMS FOR THE ORGANIZATIONS SERVING WOMEN AND INFORMING THEM OF HOW NOSW PROGRAMS CAN BE A PART OF THEIR CONTINUUM OF CARE. OUR PARTNER SITES ARE APPRECIATIVE OF WHAT WE BRING AND ALWAYS ASK US TO RETURN. OUR OTHER WORKSHOP PROGRAM IS OUR MONTHLY GRADUATE GROUP MEETINGS WHICH MEET EVERY 3RD THURSDAY ON ZOOM FOR MEANINGFUL CONTENT AND NETWORKING. THESE SESSIONS GREW IN ATTENDANCE IN 2023, PARTICULARLY AFTER OUR RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM GRADUATES BEGAN TO JOIN MORE OFTEN.IN ADDITION TO THE DELIVERY OF THE WORKSHOPS, 2023 IS THE FIRST YEAR SINCE THE PANDEMIC THAT WE ACTUALLY HAVE ADDED MORE PROGRAMS TO OUR SCHEDULE THAN WE ORIGINALLY PLANNED FOR. OUR 3-DAY PROGRAM HAS BEEN GAINING MOMENTUM. OUR APPLICATIONS TO ATTEND THESE PROGRAMS GREW BY 50% AND WE RECOGNIZED THAT WE NEEDED TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL 3-DAY SESSION TO ACCOMMODATE ALL THE APPLICANTS. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE WONDERFUL INSIGHTS AND TOOLS FOR SELF-ESTEEM, WELLNESS, AND MOTIVATION WHICH PARTICIPANTS WALK AWAY FROM THE PROGRAM MORE ENLIGHTENED VERSIONS OF THEMSELVES. FINALLY, OUR BIGGEST PROGRAM, THE TWO-WEEK RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM HAS ALSO GAINED NOTORIETY AND IN THE SUMMER OF 2023 OUR ATTENDANCE GREW TO PRE-PANDEMIC LEVELS ONCE AGAIN. WE GRADUATED 16 LADIES FROM THE TWO SESSIONS WE HELD IN 2023, WHICH WAS AN ALMOST 50% INCREASE FROM 2022. THESE NUMBERS ARE MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR US AND WE ANTICIPATE THAT 2024 WILL BE EVEN STRONGER.
