HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF MADISON AND CLARK COUNTIES (HABITAT) IS A NON- PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PEOPLE IN NEED TO BUILD SIMPLE, DECENT, AND AFFORDABLE HOMES. HABITAT BUILT HOMES ARE SOLD TO FAMILIES IN NEED AT "NO PROFIT" TO HABITAT, AND ARE FINANCED WITH ZERO PERCENT INTEREST MORTGAGE. HABITAT FAMILIES ARE SELECTED BASED ON THREE CRITERIA: THE FAMILY DEMONSTRATES THE NEED FOR HOUSING, THE FAMILY HAS THE ABILITY TO PAY THE LOW MORTGAGE PAYMENTS, AND THE FAMILY HAS TO BE WILLING TO BE A PARTNER WITH HABITAT. A FAMILY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HABITAT PARTICIPATES IN HABITAT PROGRAMS AND IS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE "SWEAT EQUITY" IN THE BUILDING OF THEIR HOME. HABITAT BUILDS HOMES FOR AND WITH FAMILIES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HABITAT.
HABITAT RESTORE PROGRAM ACCEPTS DONATIONS OF HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, BUILDING MATERIAL, AND APPLIANCES TO BE SOLD AT DISCOUNTED PRICES TO GENERATE REVENUE FOR THE BUILDING OF NEW HABITAT HOMES IN MADISON & CLARK COUNTIES.
