Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
2020-2021 BROUGHT SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES TO OUR WORLD. YET THROUGH THIS TIME, THE ANGELWOOD GROUP HOMES CONTINUED TO CARE FOR THE INDIVIDUALS LIVING IN OUR 6 GROUP HOMES 24 HOURS/DAY, 365 DAYS/YEAR. THE PEOPLE WE SERVE ARE MORE MEDICALLY VULNERABLE THAN THE GENERAL PUBLIC. YET OUR DEDICATED FRONT-LINE STAFF CARED FOR THEM IN SICKNESS AND HEALTH, EVEN WHEN FACED WITH THEIR OWN POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO COVID-19. WE BELIEVE THEIR CLOSE ATTENTION TO SIGNS & SYMPTOMS AS WELL AS METICULOUSLY FOLLOWING SAFETY GUIDELINES HELPED ALL OUR RESIDENTS, EVEN THOSE WHO BECAME ILL, SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATE THE PANDEMIC WITH EVERYONE EITHER MAINTAINING OR RETURNING TO FULL HEALTH. ANGELWOOD'S SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT AND ADULT DAY TRAINING (ADT) SERVICES TOOK ON A DIFFERENT LOOK THROUGH THIS LAST YEAR. MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO HELD JOBS WERE OUT OF WORK DUE TO CLOSED BUSINESSES OR THEIR OWN VULNERABILITY MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO RETURN IN THE FIRST PHASE OF REOPENING. LATER IN THE YEAR THEY WERE SLOWLY ABLE TO RESUME THEIR JOBS. ANGELWOOD WAS ABLE TO ADAPT OUR METHOD OF SERVICE DELIVERY TO MEET THE CHANGING ENVIRONMENT. WE MAINTAINED CONNECTED WITH INDIVIDUALS VIA TELEPHONE AND IPADS. VIRTUAL CONNECTIONS ALSO WORKED FOR SOME OF THE PEOPLE RECEIVING ADT SERVICES WHILE OTHERS WERE ABLE TO RECEIVE THIS SERVICE IN THEIR HOMES. THE BELLS OF ANGELWOOD IS A PERFORMING MUSICAL ENSEMBLE THAT OFFERS PARTICIPANTS OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN VALUABLE SKILLS SUCH AS EYE HAND COORDINATION, FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS AND LISTENING TO OTHER ENSEMBLE MEMBERS. IT ALSO GIVES PEOPLE WHO ARE OFTEN DISREGARDED IN OUR COMMUNITY AN OPPORTUNITY TO HIGHLIGHT WHAT THEY ARE ABLE TO DO RATHER THAN WHAT THEY CANNOT DO. THEY EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF PERFORMANCE AND THE ABILITY TO HELP OTHERS SUCH AS WHEN THEY VISIT NURSING HOMES. THIS GROUP WAS ABLE TO PERFORM SEVERAL COMMUNITY CONCERTS PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC SHUTDOWN. ANGELWOOD WAS PLEASED TO PARTNER WITH 2 OTHER LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE A COMMUNITY CONCERT. IT ALSO PLAYED FOR LOCAL AUDIENCES AT THE JESSIE BALL DUPONT CENTER IN JACKSONVILLE AND SEVERAL OTHER VENUES. THIS GROUP HAS RECENTLY RESUMED REHEARSALS AND HOPES TO PERFORM AGAIN SOON. THE ANGELWOOD BEHAVIOR DEPARTMENT PROVIDES POSITIVE BEHAVIOR STRATEGIES AND TRAINING TO HELP INDIVIDUALS MINIMIZE BEHAVIORS THAT CAUSE PROBLEMS FOR THEMSELVES OR OTHERS IN THEIR LIVES. BEHAVIORISTS ARE AVAILABLE TO TRAIN FAMILY MEMBERS OR ANGELWOOD EMPLOYEES TO REACH THE BEST RESULTS. THIS SERVICE WAS ALSO AFFECTED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. STILL, OVER 30 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED BEHAVIOR SERVICES THIS LAST YEAR. THE IMPACT THAT ANGELWOOD HAS IN THE COMMUNITY REACHES BEYOND THE SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS DIRECTLY RECEIVING SERVICES. AS OUR MISSION STATES, WE ARE AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT, NOT ONLY THE CHILDREN AND ADULTS WHO ARE PHYSICALLY PRESENT WITH US FOR SERVICES BUT THEIR FAMILIES WHO LOVE THEM. ANGELWOOD ASSISTS FAMILIES TO CONNECT WITH PROFESSIONALS, SET UP POOLED TRUSTS AND PLAN FOR FUTURE FINAL NEEDS.
