5TH QUARTER IS A TWO-PART PROGRAM HOSTED AT THE LIFE CENTER IN EATONVILLE (FRIDAY NIGHTS) AND ON THE CAMPUSES OF EDGEWATER HIGH SCHOOL, LEE MIDDLE, LOCKHART MIDDLE AND MAITLAND MIDDLE DURING LUNCH. EACH FRIDAY EVENING FOLLOWING A HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL OR FOOTBALL GAME. OVER 100 STUDENTS HAD A SAFE PLACE TO GO ON FRIDAY NIGHTS, AT EKOS 5TH QUARTER IN EATONVILLE WHERE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, STUDENTS CAME TO PLAY BASKETBALL AND VARIOUS GAMES, WHILE SPENDING QUALITY TIME WITH EKO MENTORS
THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH THE NECESSARY SKILLS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN ALL FACETS OF THEIR LIVES AND HAVE CONTROL OVER THEIR FUTURE.20 STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR COMPETITIVE LIFE LONG LEADERSHIP PROGRAM.
STUDENTS HAD A CHANCE TO TRAVEL TO OUR NATIONS CAPITAL, AND SET FOOT ONTO A UNIVERSITY CAMPUS FOR THE FIRST TIME TO LEARN MORE ABOUT POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION AND THE POSSIBILITIES THAT AWAIT THEM. IN FACT, ON OUR 2018 EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL TOUR, STUDENTS VISITED MULTIPLE COLLEGE CAMPUSES IN THE WASHINGTON, D.C. AREA, AS WELL AS THE NATIONS CAPITAL, THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE, AND THE HOME OF FREDERICK DOUGLAS.THROUGH EKO ON CAMPUS, MORE THAN 100 STUDENTS GAINED MENTORS WHO NOT ONLY SUPPORTED THEM IN SCHOOL, BUT ALSO HELPED TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN HOME AND COMMUNITY.
