HOMES TRANSFERRED TO ELIGIBLE FAMILIES FORMERLY LIVING IN SUBSTANDARD HOUSING. VOLUNTEERS AND FUTURE HOMEOWNERS CONSTRUCT THE HOMES, WHICH ARE SOLD AT NO PROFIT AND FINANCED WITH A ZERO-INTEREST LOAN. HABITAT HOMEOWNER CANDIDATES EARN 30 TO 80 PERCENT OF AREA MEDIAN INCOME. CANDIDATES MUST DEMONSTRATE NEED FOR ADEQUATE SHELTER; ABILITY TO PAY BACK A ZERO-INTEREST LOAN AND WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER WITH HABITAT TO INVEST 350 TO 450 SWEAT EQUITY HOURS. MORTGAGE MONIES ARE THEN USED TO BUILD MORE HOMES, MAKING EACH DONATION TO HABITAT A PERPETUAL LEGACY TO THE COMMUNITY. HABITAT TRANSFERRED 60 HOMES TO HOMEOWNERS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR.
SELL DONATED FURNITURE AND CONSTRUCTION SUPPLIES TO GENERAL PUBLIC. PROCEEDS ARE USED TO FUND HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAM. HABITAT RESTORES ARE HOME IMPROVEMENT OUTLETS WHERE NEW AND GENTLY USED BUILDING MATERIALS AND HOME FURNISHINGS ARE SOLD AT DISCOUNTED PRICES. THE RESTORES ARE A SOLUTION FOR TURNING THESE DONATIONS, FROM GENEROUS AND ENVIRONMENTALLY CONCERNED INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES, INTO MONEY TO BUILD HOMES FOR DESERVING FAMILIES.
