RESTORE SEAGRASSES IN DEGRADED AREAS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE HABITAT FOR FISH AND SHELLFISH IN TEXAS ESTUARIES. SEAGRASS RESTORATION PILOT PROJECT IN TEXAS. PHASE I INCLUDES COMPLETING THE PROJECT DESIGN, APPLYING FOR ALL NECESSARY FEDERAL AND STATE PERMITS, DEVELOPING A SAMPLING PROTOCOL, CONDUCTING BASELINE SITE SAMPLING, AND ASSESSING COASTAL COORDINATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE (CCAC) SEAGRASS RESTORATION NEEDS. THE FINAL PROJECT DESIGN, SAMPLING PROTOCOL AND OUTCOMES WILL BE DEVELOPED THROUGH DISCUSSIONS WITH SEVERAL STATE AGENCIES INTERESTED IN THE RESULTS OF THIS PROJECT. OVERALL, THIS PROJECT REPRESENTS A TRIAL FOR LARGER-SCALE FUTURE SHORELINE STABILITY BOLSTERING THROUGH SEAGRASS ALONG THE TEXAS ESTUARINE COASTS. THE PROGRESS IS MOVING FORWARD RAPIDLY TOWARD A FINAL REPORT TO BE SENT AT THE END OF 18 MONTHS IN END OF MARCH, 2024. VARIOUS PARTS OF THE FINAL REPORT ARE BEING GATHERED, ASSEMBLED, AS ARE FINALIZED ACCOMPLISHED ITEMS SUCH AS VIDEO ON RESTORATION, THE FINAL REPORT ITSELF, THE BOUNDARY SURVEY, WHEREAS SOME ITEMS HAVE ALREADY BEEN SENT IN TO TGLO IN FINAL FORMAT, TO BE INCLUDED IN FINAL REPORT SUCH AS AERIAL, GROUND PHOTOS, SKETCHES OF SITES. INITIAL PHYSICO-CHEMICAL DATA FROM SITES, ETC. SOME KEY ITEMS OF THE PROGRAM SUCH AS THE VIDEO PRESENTATIONS, THE FINAL REPORT, THE COASTAL BOUNDARY SURVEY REGISTRATION WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT, AND INITIAL MONITORING DATA FOR ALL OF THE 8 PILOT SITES ARE BEING PUT INTO PLACE (WITH SOME MODIFICATION OF DELETED TWO SITES FROM 10 ORIGINAL SITES).
