COOL GIRLS, INC. IS DEDICATED TO THE SELF-EMPOWERMENT OF GIRLS IN ATLANTA BY PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICE TO UNDERSERVED YOUTH. WE PROVIDE THE TOOLS THAT HELP UNDER-RESOURCED AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED GIRLS MAKE POSITIVE CHOICES TO HELP THEM ACHIEVE ACADEMIC SUCCESS; LEAD HEALTHY, ACTIVE LIVES; BREAK THE CYCLES OF POVERTY, TEEN PREGNANCY, AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE; AND OVERCOME THE BARRIERS OF RACISM AND SEXISM. ALL OF OUR AWARD-WINNING PROGRAMS ARE DIRECT-SERVICE AND ARE PROVIDED COMPLETELY FREE-OF-CHARGE.DUE TO COVID- 19 AND SCHOOL GUIDELINES, COOL GIRLS CONTINUED TO DELIVER OUR AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS VIRTUALLY SERVING OVER 100 GIRLS. SEVERAL PARTICIPANTS SHARED THEIR CONCERN, ANGER AND ANXIETY AS THE MAJORITY OF THE GIRLS WE SERVE ARE BLACK AND BROWN. WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE SEVERAL FAMILIES WITH GIFT CARDS TO LOCAL GROCERY STORES TO ENSURE THEIR BASIC NEEDS WERE MET. THIS WAS NECESSARY AS SEVERAL OF OUR FAMILIES SUFFERED FINANCIALLY DUE TO JOB LOSS AND REDUCED WORK HOURS AS A RESULT OF COVID-19. COOL GIRLS AWARDED 12 FINANCIAL SCHOLARSHIPS (TOTALING OVER $30,000) TO OFF-SET COLLEGE EXPENSES FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES PREPARING FOR COLLEGE AND THOSE THAT ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN COLLEGE.
