MIDLANDS MEDIATION CENTER PROMOTES THE VOLUNTARY RESOLUTION OF DISPUTES THROUGH THE PROCESS OF MEDIATION CONDUCTED BY VOLUNTEERS. MMC ALSO PROVIDES TRAINING TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON CONFLICT MANAGEMENT INCLUDING MEDIATOR TRAINING AS ALTERNATIVE TO LITIGATION. MISSION STATEMENT MIDLANDS MEDIATION CENTER HELPS INDIVIDUALS, COMMUNITIES, BUSINESSES, AND ORGANIZATIONS RESOLVE CONFLICT, IMPROVE RELATIONSHIPS AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY.

MIDLANDS MEDIATION CENTER HELPS INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS TO RESOLVE CONFLICTS, IMPROVE RELATIONSHIPS AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY. MMC STAFF AND TRAINED COLUNTEERS PROVIDE MEDIATION SERVICES THROUGHT COURT-CONNECTED PROGRAMS TO RESOLVE DOMESTIC RELATIONS CASES AND SMALL CIVIL CLAIMS, BEFORE A JURY TRIAL OR OTHER MEANS OF ADJUDICATION. THE CENTER ALSO SUPPORTS LOCAL NEIGHBORHOODS AND SMALL BUSINESSES TO MEDIATE CONFLICT, REDUCE TENSIONS AND INCREASE COMMUNITY CAPACITY TO ENGAGE IN POSITIVE CONFLICT MANAGEMENT. VOLUNTEERS ALSO SUPPORT OTHER FORMS OF ADR, NEUTRAL THIRD PARTY, TO ADDRESS WORKPLACE, NEIGHBORHOOD, REAL ESTATE OR OTHER DISPUTES AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO LITIGATION PROCESS. VOLUNTEER MEDIAOTRS PROVIDED OVER 594 HOURS OF SERVICE $91,476 IN FISCAL YEAR 2022. CLIENTS WITH LOW TO MODEST INCOMES CAN USE A SLIDING-SCALE FEE FOR THE MEDIATED SESSIONS AND OTHER SERVICES. MMC STAFF FACILITATE VARIOUS TRAINING PROGRAMS, INCLUDING A COURSE TO EQUIP LAY MEDIATORS FOR MAGISTRATE COURT AND COMMUNITY CASES. SMALL, INFORMAL GROUP SESSIONS ALSO ARE ORGANIZED TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE MERITS AND METHODS OF PEACEFUL CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN AND PRACTICE LEARNED SKILLS.
