Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
PUTTING GOD'S LOVE INTO ACTION, HFH BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER TO BUILD HOMES, COMMUNITIES AND HOPE BY MAKING DECENT, AFFORDABLE HOUSING AVAILABLE TO MORE FAMILIES. HABITAT SEEKS TO ELIMINATE POVERTY HOUSING FROM THE WORLD AND MAKE DECENT SHELTER A MATTER OF CONSCIENCE AND ACTION.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
GREATER FLORENCE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY CONTINUED TO DIVERSIFY ITS PROGRAMS TO INCLUDE THE REPAIR AND RENOVATION OF EXISTING HOMES IN ADDITION TO ITS TRADITIONAL NEW HOME CONSTRUCTION MODEL. FAMILIES PURCHASE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HABITAT HOMES, WITH A NO-INTEREST MORTGAGE, AFTER COMPLETING THEIR SWEAT EQUITY HOURS AND HOMEOWNERSHIP PREPAREDNESS CLASSES. FAMILIES PURCHASED HOMES THAT HAD BEEN ACQUIRED BY HABITAT THROUGH FORECLOSURE AND RENOVATED TO LIKE-NEW CONDITION. AS A RESULT OF GREATER FLORENCE'S DEPRESSED RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE MARKET, HABITAT CONTINUES TO BUY AND RENOVATE EXISTING FORECLOSED HOMES FOR LESS THAN IT COSTS TO BUILD A NEW HOME. THIS STRATEGY HAS HELPED HABITAT STRETCH DONOR DOLLARS, SERVE MORE FAMILIES AND STABILIZE NEIGHBORHOODS WITH FORECLOSING RATES.
FLORENCE HABITAT RESTORE IS A DISCOUNT HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE THAT SELLS QUALITY NEW AND GENTLY USED FURNITURE, APPLIANCES, BUILDING MATERIALS, HOME DECOR AND MUCH MORE. INVENTORY COMES FROM GENEROUS DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS.
