SEEKING TO PUT GOD'S LOVE INTO ACTION, THE AIKEN COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY ADVOCATES FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO SAFE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR UNDERSERVED LOW INCOME FAMILIES IN AIKEN COUNTY THROUGH EDUCATION, CONSTRUCTION, AND SUPPORT SERVICES.

THROUGH THE HOMEOWNER PROGRAM, AIKEN HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HELPS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES ACHIEVE STRENGTH, STABILITY, AND SELF-RELIANCE THROUGH SHELTER. HABITAT HOMEOWNER'S PUT IN HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF "SWEAT EQUITY" HELPING BUILD THEIR HOME AND THE HOMES OF OTHERS IN THE PROGRAM. ADDITIONALLY, HABITAT OFFERS HOMEBUYERS AN AFFORDABLE MORTGAGE. THEIR MORTGAGE PAYMENTS CYCLE BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY TO HELP BUILD MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSES. THE WOMEN BUILD PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1998 TO ENCOURAGE THE INVOLVEMENT OF MORE WOMEN IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF HABITAT HOMES IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES WOMEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN USEFUL, LIFELONG SKILLS WHILE MEETING AND HELPING OTHER WOMEN AND BENEFITTING AIKEN COUNTY COMMUNITIES.
