THE ABBEVILLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION WAS ESTABLISHED TO PRESERVE, MAINTAIN AND PROMOTE THE BURT-STARKMANSION AS A NATIONAL SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY IN THE HISTORY OF THE US. THE BURT-STARK MANSION WAS DESIGNATED BYTHE SECRETARY OF THE US DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR ON OCTOBER 23, 1992, AS A NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK.WHICHPLACES THE MANSION ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORICAL PLACES. THE COMMISSION CONTINUES IT MISSION THROUGH VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPORTERS.
