WE WORK EVERY DAY TO PROVIDE FOOD TO PEOPLE IN NEED WHILE ADVANCING LONG-TERM SOLUTIONS TO END HUNGER IN OUR COMMUNITIES. THE FOOD BANK AND OUR BRANCH LOCATIONS SERVE AS THE CENTRAL HUB OF A NETWORK OF 700+ PARTNER PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT OUR 34-COUNTY REGION (THROUGH DISTRIBUTION CENTERS IN DURHAM, GREENVILLE, NEW BERN, RALEIGH, THE SANDHILLS (SOUTHERN PINES) AND WILMINGTON) INCLUDING NO-COST FOOD MARKETS, PANTRIES, MEAL SITES, AND A HOST OF INITIATIVES SERVING CHILDREN, ADULTS, AND SENIORS. TOGETHER, WE'RE WORKING TO OVERCOME HUNGER AND CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE EVERYONE IN NORTH CAROLINA CAN THRIVE.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

LAST FISCAL YEAR, THE FOOD BANK OF CENTRAL & EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA DISTRIBUTED UPWARDS OF 90 MILLION MEALS WORTH OF FOOD TO APPROXIMATELY 700 PARTNER AGENCIES ACROSS CENTRAL AND EASTERN NC. THIS DISTRIBUTION WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT OUR DEDICATED AND COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITY OF STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, DONORS, ADVOCATES, AND CORPORATE PARTNERS. FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS, THIS IS HOW WE'VE HELPED NOURISH THOUSANDS OF OUR NEIGHBORS INCLUDING INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, CHILDREN, AND SENIORS.

THE FOOD BANK OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA'S RETAIL DONATION PROGRAM RESCUED AND DISTRIBUTED MORE FOOD THAN EVER BEFORE, ENSURING LESS FOOD IN OUR LANDFILLS AND MORE MEALS FOR FAMILIES IN NEED. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, OUR PARTNER AGENCIES PICKED UP APPROXIMATELY 22 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD FROM LOCAL RETAIL STORES, A RECORD FOR THE ORGANIZATION.

THROUGH OUR YEAR-ROUND OPERATION OF THE FEDERAL NUTRITION PROGRAM FOR SENIORS, THE COMMODITIES SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM, PROVIDED OVER 8,000 BOXES OF FOOD A MONTH IN ALL OF OUR 34 COUNTIES.
