Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
LAST FISCAL YEAR, THE FOOD BANK OF CENTRAL & EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA DISTRIBUTED UPWARDS OF 90 MILLION MEALS WORTH OF FOOD TO APPROXIMATELY 700 PARTNER AGENCIES ACROSS CENTRAL AND EASTERN NC. THIS DISTRIBUTION WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT OUR DEDICATED AND COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITY OF STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, DONORS, ADVOCATES, AND CORPORATE PARTNERS. FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS, THIS IS HOW WE'VE HELPED NOURISH THOUSANDS OF OUR NEIGHBORS INCLUDING INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, CHILDREN, AND SENIORS.
THE FOOD BANK OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA'S RETAIL DONATION PROGRAM RESCUED AND DISTRIBUTED MORE FOOD THAN EVER BEFORE, ENSURING LESS FOOD IN OUR LANDFILLS AND MORE MEALS FOR FAMILIES IN NEED. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, OUR PARTNER AGENCIES PICKED UP APPROXIMATELY 22 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD FROM LOCAL RETAIL STORES, A RECORD FOR THE ORGANIZATION.
THROUGH OUR YEAR-ROUND OPERATION OF THE FEDERAL NUTRITION PROGRAM FOR SENIORS, THE COMMODITIES SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM, PROVIDED OVER 8,000 BOXES OF FOOD A MONTH IN ALL OF OUR 34 COUNTIES.
