THE PREVENTION OF FIRE AND THE PRESERVATION OF PROPERTY AND PROTECTION OF LIFE DURING SUCH EMERGENCIES AS MAY OCCUR IN THE VILLAGE OF BARBOURSVILLE AND THE BARBOURSVILLE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT. THIS SERVICE SHALL ALSO BE PROVIDED TO OTHER COMMUNITIES THAT REQUEST IT.

THE BARBOURSVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT SERVES AN AREA OF APPROXIMATELY 25 SQUARE MILES IN THE VILLAGE OF BARBOURSVILLE, ONA, AND HUNTINGTON, INCLUDING 12 MILES OF US ROUTE 60 AND 8 MILES OF INTERSTATE 64. AREA ALSO INCLUDES A CSX DOUBLE RAIL RUNNING THROUGH THE ENTIRE DISTRICT. THE BARBOURSVILLE FIRE DISTRICT CONSISTS OF OVER 9,500 RESIDENTIAL HOMES AND 800 BUSINESSES. THE DEPARTMENT ALSO PROVIDES MUTUAL AID TO ALL OTHER CABELL COUNTY WV FIRE DEPARTMENTS AS WELL AS LINCOLN AND WAYNE COUNTIES IN WV AND TWO OTHERS IN OHIO. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING 6/30/21, THE DEPARTMENT ANSWERED A TOTAL OF 1,119 CALLS, INCLUDING 31 STRUCTURE FIRES, 12 VEHICLE FIRES, 29 OTHER FIRES, AND 112 EMS ASSISTS, MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS WITH AND WITHOUT INJURIES AND VARIOUS OTHER CALLS SUCH AS WEATHER RELATED INCIDENTS AND PUBLIC SERVICES.
