Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
INDUSTRY ORIENTED TRAINING SEMINARS CONFERENCES AND CONVENTIONS HELD TO PROMOTE AND PERPETUATE INDUSTRY STANDARDS, NEW DEVELOPMENTS, INDUSTRY PRACTICES AND THE STATE OF THE ASSOC.NFSA IS PROUD OF ITS 115-YEAR HISTORY OF SERVING ITS MEMBERS, AND WE BELIEVE WE ARE UNIQUELY POSITIONED TO EXPAND STRATEGICALLY TO SUPPORT THE FIRE SPRINKLER INDUSTRY AND ENSURE THAT MORE FIRE SPRINKLERS ARE INSTALLED IN BUILDINGS ACROSS OUR NATION AND INDEED THE WORLD.MOST OF 2021 WILL LIKELY BE KNOWN AS THE YEAR THE WORLD SKIPPED BECAUSE OF STAY-AT-HOME ORDERS, MASK MANDATES, GOVERNMENTS AND BUSINESSES SHUT DOWN, ALL BECAUSE OF A WORLD-WIDE PANDEMIC KNOWN AS COVID-19. SUPPLY CHAINS WILL TAKE SEVERAL YEARS TO RECOVER. HOWEVER, NFSA WORKED HARDER THAN EVER TO ENSURE MEMBERS SERVICES AND TO ENSURE THAT FIRE SPRINKLERS WERE PROMOTED FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA.WHILE COVID-19 SEEMED TO PLACE THE WORLD ON PAUSE, NOT SO WITH NFSA. WE ADOPTED A WAR-TIME MENTALITY AT THE ONSET, IMPLEMENTED AN AGGRESSIVE PLAN TO FORGE AHEAD, AND UTILIZED THE HOMELAND SECURITY ACT OF 2002 TO ENSURE THE FIRE SPRINKLER INDUSTRY WAS CONSIDERED "ESSENTIAL WORKERS." YOUR TEAM AT NFSA WORKED AROUND THE CLOCK TO ENSURE STATE AND FEDERAL EXECUTIVE ORDERS WERE REVIEWED AND THE IMPACT RELAYED TO OUR MEMBERS. AS OTHER ASSOCIATIONS SHUTDOWN, TOOK VACATIONS, SUSPENDED OPERATIONS, CANCELLED CONFERENCES, ETC. NFSA WORKED HARDER THAN EVER TO LEAD THE WAY. WE KNEW OUR ANNUAL CONFERENCE STILL NEEDED TO BE CARRIED OUT, TRAINING CEU'S WERE STILL REQUIRED, CONTRACTS WOULD STILL NEED TO BE NEGOTIATED, CODES AND STANDARDS CHANGES WOULD STILL OCCUR, MORE LAWS WOULD BE CONSIDERED THAN EVER BEFORE, AND THAT EVERYONE WAS AT HOME WATCHING TELEVISION, WHICH MEANT WE NEEDED TO PROMOTE THE INDUSTRY LIKE NEVER BEFORE.NFSA NEVER MISSED A DAY OF PROVIDING SERVICES AND GOODS TO OUR MEMBERS. OUR LABOR/LEGAL DEPARTMENT WORKED TIRELESSLY TO ENSURE INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED TO OUR CONTRACTOR MEMBERS ON THE STATUS OF STAY-AT-HOME ORDERS. THEY ISSUED LETTERS TO ENSURE SUPPLY CHAINS KEPT MOVING AND TO ENSURE EMPLOYEES OF FIRE SPRINKLER COMPANIES WERE NOT STOPPED ON THEIR WAY TO WORK AS ENTIRE CITIES SHUT DOWN. OUR TEAM AT NFSA HEADQUARTERS ENSURED BOOKS AND ITEMS ORDERED FROM NFSA WERE FILLED AND SHIPPED, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY KEPT THE INFRASTRUCTURE UP AND RUNNING SO OUR TEAM IN THE FIELD AND NOW EVERYONE COULD WORK REMOTE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION.WE HAVE ALSO INCREASED OUR EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY OUTREACH WITH SIDE-BY-SIDE BURN TRAILERS OR PODS FOR EVERY STATE, AN INCREASED PRESENCE AT FIRE AND GOVERNMENT CONFERENCES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. WE HAVE ALSO ENJOYED INCREASED FUNDING FROM THE MANUFACTURERS COUNCIL THAT HAS GIVE US THE ABILITY TO "LOBBY UP" IN ANY STATE THAT HAS NEGATIVE LEGISLATION AGAINST THE FIRE SPRINKLER INDUSTRY OR ANY STATE WHERE WE CAN PROMOTE AND ADVANCE THE FIRE SPRINKLER CONCEPT BECAUSE OF INTRODUCED LEGISLATION. WE ARE READY TO EXPAND OUR EFFORTS IN KEY AREAS TO REACH THE NEXT LEVEL IN EVERY STATE AND TO EXPAND OUR MANDATES AT THE LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL LEVELS. THIS FUNDING WILL GO BEYOND MANDATES BECAUSE WE WILL EXPAND OUR OUTREACH AND ADVOCACY TO ENSURE THAT BUILDING OWNERS, HOMEOWNERS, FIRE CHIEFS, BUILDING OFFICIALS, ELECTED OFFICIALS AND EVERY STUDENT FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO HIGH SCHOOL UNDERSTANDS THE VALUE AND IMPORTANCE OF THE FIRE SPRINKLER CONCEPT.ANNUALLY, THERE ARE OVER 200 PIECES OF LEGISLATION INTRODUCED AT THE STATE LEVEL THAT NEGATIVELY IMPACT THE FIRE SPRINKLER INDUSTRY. WE EXPECT TO SEE THIS INCREASE AS THE "DE-REGULATION POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT" INCREASES. NFSA NOW HAS THE TECHNOLOGY AND THE STAFF TO TRACK ALL THE LEGISLATION THAT IS INTRODUCED IMPACTING THE FIRE SPRINKLER INDUSTRY AT THE LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL LEVEL. WE HAVE LEGISLATION INTRODUCED AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL THAT WILL BUILD UPON OUR SUCCESS WITH THE FIRE SPRINKLER INCENTIVE ACT THAT WAS INCLUDED IN THE TAX CUTS AND JOBS ACT OF 2017. WITH THE UPCOMING INFRASTRUCTURE BILL AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL, HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WILL BE INVESTED IN FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS TO KEEP PEOPLE AND PROPERTY SAFE FROM FIRE.
INDUSTRY GUIDES STANDARDS, CODES, CREDENTIALS AND DEVELOPMENTS AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS AND NOW MEMBERS, PUBLICATIONS AVAILABLE TO ALL REQUIRING INDUSTRY INFORMATION.
