CERTIFIED DENTAL TECHNICIAN PROGRAM: TO QUALIFY FOR CERTIFICATION AS A CERTIFIED DENTAL TECHNICIAN,CANDIDATES MUST HAVE EITHER A TWO-YEAR DENTAL TECHNOLOGY DEGREE (AND IN SOME CASES, SOME SUPPLEMENTAL EXPERIENCE OR EDUCATION) OR 5 YEARS OF ON-THE-JOB TRAINING. CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO PASS TWO WRITTEN EXAMINATIONS AND ONE HANDS-ON PRACTICAL EXAMINATION TO QUALIFY FOR CERTIFICATION. TO MAINTAIN THEIR CERTIFICATION, THEY MUST DOCUMENT AT LEAST 12 HOURS OF CONTINUING EDUCATION ANNUALLY, AT LEAST ONE HOUR WHICH MUST BE IN REGULATORY STANDARDS RELATED TO OSHA OR FDA REQUIREMENTS.

CERTIFIED DENTAL LABORATORY PROGRAM: THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A CERTIFIED DENTAL LABORATORY INCLUDE MAINTAINING A CERTIFIED DENTAL TECHNICIAN (CDT) ON STAFF, MEETING PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS ON HEALTH, SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE IN THE LABORATORY FACILITY AND CONSCIENTIOUS TRAINING AND PRACTICE OF INFECTION CONTROL TECHNIQUES AND STANDARDS.
