THE ASSOCIATION'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO ENSURE VIRGINIA'S WATER QUALITY PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON SOUND SCIENCE AND GOOD PUBLIC POLICY TO PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT SUCCESSFULLY AND COST EFFECTIVELY.

THE ASSOCIATION COMMENTS AND LITIGATES ON THE RULE-MAKING PROCESS AND ENFORCEMENT POLICIES WITH THE VIRGINIA STATE WATER CONTROL BOARD AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY AFFECTING THE MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER INDUSTRY IN VIRGINIA. IN PREPARATION FOR ITS COMMENTING AND LITIGATING ACTIVITY, THE ASSOCIATION CONDUCTS RESEARCH STUDIES ON THE WATER QUALITY IN VIRGINIA. DURING THE YEAR, THE ASSOCIATION PARTICIPATED IN PENDING TECHNICAL AND REGULATOR ADVISORY COMMITTEES FOR CLEAN WATER INITIATIVES.


THE ASSOCIATION MONITORS, SUPPORTS AND/OR OPPOSES LEGISLATION AFFECTING THE MUNICAL WASTEWATER INDUSTRY REGARDING WATER QUALITY AND MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER SERVICES, INCLUDING INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING.


THE ASSOCIATION CONDUCTED QUARTERLY MEMBER MEETINGS, REGULATORY BRIEFINGS AND PREPARED COMPREHENSIVE WRITTEN REPORTS ON EVOLVING POLICY ISSUES.
