Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

SEEKING TO PUT GOD'S LOVE INTO ACTION, HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER TO BUILD HOMES, COMMUNITIES, AND HOPE. WE PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES TO BECOME HOMEOWNERS BY WORKING ALONGSIDE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS TO CONSTRUCT THEIR HOMES.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM (CODE 531390): FAMILIES IN NEED OF A DECENT PLACE TO LIVE PARTNER WITH US TO BUILD SAFE AND AFFORDABLE HOMES. HOUSES ARE LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE HOMEOWNER'S NEEDS, BUT SMALL ENOUGH TO KEEP CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE COSTS AFFORDABLE. BY USING THE LABOR OF VOLUNTEERS AND PROSPECTIVE HOMEOWNERS, KEEPING HOUSE SIZES MODEST, USING DONATED MATERIALS AND APPLIANCES WHEN POSSIBLE, AND ISSUING NO-PROFIT LOANS, HABITAT MAKES ITS HOUSES AFFORDABLE FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES TO PURCHASE. AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP HELPS CREATE THE CONDITIONS THAT FREE FAMILIES FROM INSTABILITY, STRESS AND FEAR, AND ENCOURAGE SELF-RELIANCE AND CONFIDENCE. STUDIES SHOW THAT STRONG AND STABLE HOUSEHOLDS ARE FOUNDATIONAL TO CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH. WHEN A HOME FOSTERS -- RATHER THAN HINDERS -- HEALTH AND SAFETY, FAMILIES CAN FLOURISH. OWNING AN AFFORDABLE HOME ALSO ALLOWS HOMEOWNERS TO LIFT UP THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY BY SAVING FOR THEIR FUTURES AND INVESTING IN EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, BOLSTERING JOB OPPORTUNITIES AND CAREER GROWTH. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2020, SOUTHAMPTON-FRANKLIN HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SERVED A FAMILY OF 4 THROUGH ITS HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM.

(CODE 453310) OPERATED A RESTORE THAT SELLS DONATED APPLIANCES, FURNITURE, SECOND-HAND BUILDING SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS, AS WELL AS OTHER HOUSEHOLD ITEMS TO THE PUBLIC. HAVING A PLACE FOR THE PUBLIC TO RECYCLE USABLE ITEMS KEEPS THEM OUT OF THE DUMP, OUR LOW PRICES BENEFIT CUSTOMERS, AND THE NET PROCEEDS BENEFIT OUR GENERAL PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF HOUSES FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES.
