TO PROVIDE COUNSELING, HOUSING, IMMIGRATION ASSISTANCE, BREAST CANCER SCREENING TO LIMITED ENGLISH SPEAKING AND LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS IN THE WASHINGTON DC METRO AREA.

VRA WILL PROVIDE LOW-INCOME ASIANS, HISPANICS AND OTHER WOMEN WITH LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY WITH SERVICES TO HELP PREVENT CANCER BY IN DEPTH COUNSELING, REFERRALS FOR MAMMOGRAMS CANCER SCREENING, ASSISTANCE IN MAKING APPOINTMENTS, TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE FACILITY, INTERPRETATION AT SCREENING SITES, FOLLOW-UP CARE, AND REMINDERS FOR FUTURE SCREENING IN ADDITION TO OTHER NECESSARY ASSISTANCE REQUIRED TO DEAL WITH THE RESULTS OF THE BREAST CANCER SCREENING. THE VRA WILL ALSO PROVIDE HEALTH AND MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING IN ADDITION TO MAMMOGRAM SCREENING AND RELATED SERVICES. SERVED 387 CLIENTS AND 282 HOUSEHOLDS IN 2022.
THE VRA WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE ON LOCATING AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW-INCOME CLIENTS, PROVIDING ONGOING ASSISTANCE AND HOUSING COUNSELING FOR LEP CLIENTS WHO WANT TO NAVIGATE OTHER SOCIAL SERVICES OR HAVE DISPUTES WITH THEIR LANDLORDS AND THE VRA WILL HELP THEM, IF NECESSARY, TO IDENTIFY POTENTIAL LOW COST HOUSING. THE VRA WILL ASSIST 30 HOUSEHOLDS (90 INDIVIDUALS OR 75%) WITH FILLING OUT NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO APPLY FOR THE HOUSING AND SOCIAL SERVICES. SERVED 253 CLIENTS AND 191 HOUSEHOLDS IN 2022.
